Youth Shellista V Lace Waterproof Boots
Youth Shellista V Lace Waterproof Boots
Kids’ Footwear · Insulated Waterproof Winter Boot

An update to one of our most popular kids’ footwear lines, the Kids’ Shellista V Lace Waterproof boots have waterproof uppers, HEATSEEKER™ insulation for those cold-weather days and faux-fur trims for elevated style and comfort. Our waterproof footwear incorporates a variety of advanced waterproofing materials, treatments, and processes. To help keep feet dry, we use internal waterproof membranes and/or adhesive and seam-seal constructions.

200 g HEATSEEKER™ Synthetic Insulation
200 g of HEATSEEKER™ synthetic insulation — keeps feet warm in cold + wet conditions. Hollow-core fibers maintain insulation loft when damp (unlike down), so the boots keep warming through snow-day wear
Waterproof Suede Upper
Waterproof-suede upper — premium material that looks like a casual/sport boot but performs as a fully waterproof winter boot. Real differentiation from the standard nylon/leather kids' winter boots
Waterproof, Seam-Sealed Construction
Internal waterproof membrane + adhesive + seam-seal construction keep feet dry through snow, slush, and puddles — no leaks at the seams
Luxurious Faux-Fur Collar
Faux-fur collar at the top of the boot adds cozy warmth around the ankle + elevates the look for school + casual wear. Real differentiator from utility kids' boots
Luxe-Finish Hardware
Hardware has a luxe finish — decorative metal-style hardware adds a premium visual detail to the boot’s profile
Single-Pull Lace Closure (V Lace)
Single-pull lace closure on the V Lace model — secure, customizable fit that grows with the foot. The "V Lace" version uses a lace-based quick-closure instead of Velcro for a slightly more grown-up look
Lightweight + Flexible TPR Shell + TNF Winter Grip® Outsole
Lightweight, flexible TPR (thermoplastic rubber) shell bottom for protection from the elements + TNF Winter Grip® rubber outsole for traction on cold, wet, snowy, and icy surfaces
Daisy-Chain Webbing Pull Tab
Webbing loop with daisy-chain detail at the heel for easy on/off + an iconic TNF™ look — real kid-friendly detail that encourages self-sufficiency
LWG-Certified Leather
100% of leather sourced from Leather Working Group-certified tanneries — meets environmental and ethical sourcing standards

Cleaning
Remove loose dirt, salt, and snow with a soft brush after every outing. Wipe the waterproof-suede upper with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap. For the faux-fur collar, gently brush with a soft-bristle brush (an old toothbrush works) to keep the fibers upright. Do not machine wash or tumble dry — the agitation and heat destroy the 200 g HEATSEEKER™ insulation loft, the internal waterproof membrane, the seam-seal construction, and the TPR shell can warp. Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, and solvent-based cleaners.
Lace Care
The single-pull lace closure (V Lace model) is the most-operated closure on the boot. Untie fully when putting on or taking off (don't just slip the foot in) to prevent lace abrasion. If the lace frays at the aglet, trim and heat-seal the tip with a lighter (carefully, briefly) to prevent further unraveling. Replacement laces: standard round shoelace from any shoe store fits.
Waterproof-Suede Upper Care
Waterproof suede requires periodic re-proofing to maintain water resistance. When water stops beading on the suede upper, re-treat with a suede-safe DWR spray such as Nikwax Nubuck & Suede Proof. Apply to the clean, dry boot, paying extra attention to the toe-cap (most rain-splash exposure) and the heel counter (most wear). A suede brush restores the nap after re-proofing. Don't use a generic DWR spray — it can stain the suede.
Drying
Air dry at room temperature, away from direct heat or sunlight. Always unfasten the laces and open the boot as wide as possible to allow interior airflow. Never set the boots on a radiator, near a fire, or in a clothes dryer — high heat delaminates the waterproof membrane, degrades the HEATSEEKER™ insulation, warps the TPR shell, and damages the faux-fur collar. Stuff loosely with crumpled newspaper for the first hour or two to wick interior moisture and hold the boot’s shape; replace the paper when it’s saturated.
Faux-Fur Collar Care
The faux-fur collar is durable but the most visible part of the boot. Brush regularly with a soft-bristle brush to keep the fibers upright. Don’t machine wash the fur — heat mats the synthetic pile. If the fur gets wet, air dry flat (not on a heater). If the fur develops mats, a wide-tooth comb or pet brush can restore the pile.
Luxe-Finish Hardware Care
The luxe-finish hardware (eyelets, hooks, d-rings) is decorative metal-style. Wipe with a dry cloth to keep the finish looking good. Don’t use metal polish on the hardware — can damage the finish. If the hardware starts to tarnish or discolor, a quick wipe with a soft dry cloth is usually enough; persistent discoloration may indicate the finish has worn off and the hardware should be replaced.
TNF Winter Grip® Outsole Care
Clear mud, packed snow, and road salt from the lugs with a stiff brush after each use — buildup in the lugs dramatically reduces traction on ice and packed snow. The Winter Grip® rubber is tough but check lug depth periodically; once the tread is visibly smoothed, the boot has lost meaningful winter grip and should be replaced. Kids grow out of boots before they wear out the outsole, so lug wear is less common than in adult boots — but check seasonally.
Daisy-Chain Webbing Pull Tab
The daisy-chain webbing at the heel is for easy on/off and a TNF signature visual. Check the webbing stitching periodically for wear; if a loop starts to fray, a quick hand-stitch with matching thread restores it. The webbing is durable but the iconic detail — if it wears through, you can replace it with similar daisy-chain webbing from a craft store.
Kids-Specific Care Notes
Kids’ boots get dirty fast — grass, mud, food, etc. Spot-clean small stains promptly with a damp cloth and mild soap. For tougher stains (grass, ink), work a paste of baking soda + water into the spot, let sit for 15 minutes, then wipe clean. Do not use bleach, oxygen cleaners, or enzyme cleaners on kids’ boots — they break down the HEATSEEKER™ insulation, the waterproof membrane, and the faux-fur collar.
Sizing & Growing Room
TNF youth boots run true to size, but most parents buy ½ to 1 size up to allow for growing room and to extend the boot’s usable life across one or two seasons. The Shellista V Lace has a slightly more grown-up fit than the Velcro models (lace closure = secure but can be tightened as the foot grows). If the boots are too tight, the toes press against the front, reducing insulation effectiveness and causing cold feet — the most common sizing complaint in kids’ winter boots.
Storage (Off-Season)
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight. Untie the laces fully and open the boot to allow airflow between uses. Never store damp — trapped moisture leads to mildew and odor that can be very hard to remove. Stand the boots upright (or use boot shapers) to maintain the heel and shaft shape, and to preserve the faux-fur collar’s loft. Keep out of direct sunlight (UV degrades the suede upper, the faux-fur collar, and the TPR shell over time).
Outgrowing vs Wearing Out
Most kids outgrow winter boots before wearing them out. If the boots are still in good shape when the child has outgrown them, donate or resell — the synthetic construction (HEATSEEKER™ + TPR shell + waterproof membrane) doesn’t biodegrade quickly, so keeping them in use avoids landfill. Check the toe-box for pressure-point wear, the heel-counter for shape loss, and the lace closure (V Lace) for fraying before passing on.
