Built for active kids who are always on the go, the Youth Fastpack II Mid Waterproof Boots pair a rugged ripstop upper with faux-leather details and a waterproof DRYVENT™ membrane to keep feet dry on trails, in puddles, and around the playground. A SURFACE CTRL™ rubber outsole with 34% recycled rubber gives them durable traction on every surface, while pull loops at the heel and tongue help little hikers put them on and take them off independently. Technology

DRYVENT™
TNF waterproof breathable membrane — keeps feet dry on trails and in puddles
SURFACE CTRL™
TNF proprietary rubber outsole compound tuned for grip and durability — this version incorporates 34% recycled rubber
Cleaning
Remove loose mud and grit with a soft brush before they dry and harden into the ripstop upper or the SURFACE CTRL™ lugs. Wipe the upper and faux-leather details with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap. Avoid harsh detergents or bleach, which can crack the faux-leather and break down the DRYVENT™ membrane.
Drying
Remove the insole and loosen the laces so air can reach all interior surfaces. Air dry at room temperature away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not place on radiators, near fireplaces, or use a clothes dryer — heat deforms the single-density EVA midsole and EVA footbed, and damages the DRYVENT™ membrane and faux-leather details.
DRYVENT™ Membrane
The waterproof DRYVENT™ membrane keeps water out but cannot be machine-washed or tumble-dried. Both will delaminate the membrane and ruin the boot's waterproofing. Wipe the upper with a damp cloth to remove surface dirt, and let the boot air dry naturally between wearings.
SURFACE CTRL™ Outsole
The SURFACE CTRL™ rubber outsole is made with 34% recycled rubber — brush mud and small stones from the multi-directional lugs with a stiff brush after each use to preserve traction. Avoid prolonged contact with petroleum-based products (gasoline, bike chain lube) which can degrade the rubber compound. Inspect the lugs periodically; worn lugs reduce grip on trails.
Pull Loops (Heel & Tongue)
The pull loops on the heel and tongue are what make these boots easy for kids to put on and take off independently. Check the stitching on both loops after hard use — if a loop starts to fray or pull away from the upper, replace it promptly so the child can still manage the boots on their own.
Laces & Hardware
Traditional laces are the easiest part to replace — swap in a new pair the moment the existing ones fray, which happens fast with active kids. Pull the laces out fully before removing the boot to avoid wearing the lace eyelets; check the metal eyelets for corrosion after wet use.
Faux-Leather Details
The faux-leather accents on the upper add durability and structure — clean them with mild soap and a damp cloth only. Harsh detergents, solvents, and high heat will dry out and crack the faux-leather, especially on the mudguard and topline where it bends with the foot.
EVA Footbed & Midsole
The die-cut EVA footbed (with 100% recycled polyester top sheet) and the single-density EVA midsole are cushioning and lightweight but sensitive to heat and compression. Air-dry the footbed separately and replace it when it stops bouncing back. Don't leave the boots in a hot car or in sub-freezing temperatures for extended periods.
Reinforced Toe Cap & Mudguard
The mudguard and reinforced toe cap take the brunt of rocks, roots, and playground wear. Inspect after each hike for cracks or peeled sections — once the toe cap separates from the ripstop upper, the boot loses its protective structure. Wipe clean after muddy use; do not peel or pick at the mudguard.
Storage
Kids' boots often sit for months between seasons. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, unlaced and lightly stuffed with paper or a pool noodle to help them hold shape. Confirm they are fully dry before storing to prevent mildew in the DRYVENT™ lining. Rotate outgrown boots promptly — youth sizes don't last long.
