Washing
Close all zippers, including the VISLON® CFZ, hand pocket zips, chest pocket zip, and underarm vents. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle in a front-loading washer with a mild technical-fabric detergent. Avoid chlorine bleach and fabric softener — softener can coat the FUTURELIGHT™ membrane and reduce the waterproof + breathability performance.
Drying
Tumble dry on low heat to reactivate the DWR finish. Hang dry if preferred. Air dry completely before storage to prevent mildew and odor — important for a premium alpine shell that needs to be ready for next season.
DWR Refresh
Non-PFC DWR wears off with heavy use. Re-treat periodically with a spray-on or wash-in DWR designed for technical shells to maintain surface water beading on the FUTURELIGHT™ 3L face fabric.
FUTURELIGHT™ 3L Care
The FUTURELIGHT™ 3L membrane is built into the construction. Avoid harsh detergents, fabric softener, and high heat (tumble dry high, iron, hot dryer sheets) which can damage the membrane over time. Periodically re-treat the face fabric with a spray-on DWR.
YKK® Zipper Care
The YKK® VISLON® AquaGuard® CFZ and the AquaGuard® FLATKNIT® zips are premium components. Keep them clean, lubricate occasionally with a graphite-free stick or beeswax, and replace the slider if the teeth start to skip.
No-Shoulder-Seam Care
The no-shoulder-seam construction is comfortable but the bond points are stress-critical. Avoid hanging the jacket by the shoulders — hang by the hem or fold for storage to prevent bond stress.
Bonded Cuff Tabs
The bonded cuff tabs are sealed against wind and weather. If the bond starts to lift, retire the jacket from high-abuse alpine use to prevent further damage to the bond.
Internal Cinch-Cord
Inspect the riveted cord lock at the hem before each season. The cord lock is riveted to the inside of the jacket for a clean exterior profile — if the rivet loosens, take it to a TNF repair center rather than trying to re-rivet yourself.
Brushed-Tricot Lining
The brushed-tricot lining at the chin guard and collar can pill over years of heavy use. Remove pills with a fabric shaver to maintain the soft hand-feel against the face and neck.
Storage
Store loose on a wide hanger in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Long-term compression in stuff sacks can damage the FUTURELIGHT™ membrane, the laser-cut perforations in the collar lining, and the bonded seams. Re-treat DWR and wash before long-term storage at end of season.
