Washing
Close the zip-fly and fasten the shank button before washing. Turn the pants inside out to protect the embroidered logo on the right calf. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with like colors. Use a mild, natural-fiber detergent — the 80% Climate Conscious Cotton + 20% recycled cotton blend is durable but doesn’t need harsh cleaners. Avoid chlorine bleach, oxygen bleach, and fabric softener — bleach breaks down natural cotton fibers and softener coats the fibers, reducing breathability and softness over time.
Drying
Tumble dry on low or hang to dry. The 290 g/m² cotton blend is midweight — typically dry in a single low-heat cycle or overnight on a hanger. Remove promptly at the end of the cycle to reduce wrinkles. High heat can shrink the cotton content and degrade the recycled cotton over time.
Ironing
Iron on low to medium heat if needed. Cotton blends respond well to a warm iron. Iron inside-out to protect the embroidered logo on the right calf from direct heat. For the wide-leg silhouette, hang the pants by the waistband or fold lengthwise over a hanger to maintain the clean leg line.
Pocket Care
The open stitch-through hand pockets and two drop-in back pockets are the most stress-bearing parts of the pant. Check the pocket-mouth stitching occasionally, especially if you carry heavy phones or keys — a quick reinforcement stitch at the first sign of fray prevents a much bigger repair. Empty pockets before washing to prevent keys/wallet from stressing the pocket interior.
Belt Loop Care
The self-fabric belt loops are the most fragile part of the waistband. Avoid yanking the pant up or down by the belt loops — slide them up by the waistband itself. If a belt loop pulls loose, a quick hand-stitch with matching thread restores it in 5 minutes.
Stain & Casual Wear Care
Utility pants get dirty — pre-treat sweat, food, and everyday stains with a dab of mild detergent before washing. For tougher stains (climbing chalk, mud, ink), work a paste of baking soda + water into the spot, let sit for 15 minutes, then wash on the gentle cycle. The wide-leg cut makes the pants easy to turn inside out for spot treatment.
Pilling & Surface Care
The 80% Climate Conscious Cotton + 20% recycled cotton blend can pill at high-friction zones (inner thighs, seat, under pack straps) with heavy wear. Use a fabric shaver to refresh pilled areas. Turn the pants inside out for washing to reduce friction-induced pilling on the outer face.
Storage
Fold and store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Hang the pants by the waistband on a wide hanger if preferred — the wide-leg cut drapes cleanly on a hanger without wrinkling. Avoid thin wire hangers that can crease the waistband. Keep out of direct sunlight to prevent fade of the Climate Conscious Cotton face fabric.
Climate Conscious Cotton & Recycled Cotton Care
The 80% Climate Conscious Cotton + 20% recycled cotton blend benefits from the same care as standard cotton, with one extra note: avoid fabric softener entirely. Softener leaves a waxy residue on natural fibers that builds up over time and can reduce the natural breathability of the Climate Conscious Cotton. If the pants feel stiff after washing, tumble dry on low for 10 minutes with a damp washcloth tossed in — the steam softens fibers naturally.
