Designed in partnership with members of The North Face® athlete team, the Women's Offtrail Ultra delivers high-level performance for mountain adventurers. The innovative dual-density DREAMBOUND™ midsole is firm on the outside for stability but soft on the inside for comfort, providing unmatched underfoot performance while staying incredibly lightweight. An integrated SCREEGUARD™ gaiter keeps out trail debris but remains stretchy for easy entry, and the SURFACE CTRL™ outsole features 5 mm lugs plus a scrambling zone at the toe for trusted grip on technical terrain. Whether scaling peaks or navigating rugged trails, the Offtrail Ultra empowers you to explore further, faster.
Remove loose dirt and trail debris from the upper, outsole, and SCREEGUARD™ gaiter with a soft brush after each use — keeps the mesh and gaiter breathing properly and prevents debris from embedding in the lugs.
Hand wash in cold water with a mild technical wash (like Nikwax Tech Wash or Granger's Performance Cleaner) — avoid regular detergent, which can strip the hydrophobic treatment on the rear-quarter ripstop and degrade the DREAMBOUND™ midsole foam over time.
Rinse the SURFACE CTRL™ outsole thoroughly after muddy or salty runs — mud and salt can degrade the THINWEB rubber lugs and reduce grip performance over time.
Air dry at room temperature away from direct heat sources — do not put the shoes in a dryer or near a radiator. Heat can damage the DREAMBOUND™ nitrogen super-foam midsole, the bonded internal frame, and the SCREEGUARD™ gaiter's stretch-and-recovery properties.
Stuff the shoes with newspaper or a shoe tree while drying to maintain shape and absorb internal moisture — speeds up drying and prevents the upper from collapsing.
Re-treat the hydrophobic ripstop on the rear quarter periodically with a spray-on water repellent (like Nikwax TX Direct or Granger's Performance Repel) to refresh the water-shedding performance.
Inspect the SURFACE CTRL™ outsole lugs and the scrambling zone at the toes periodically for wear — these are the most-stressed contact points on technical terrain and benefit from early replacement to maintain grip.
Check the SCREEGUARD™ gaiter for any tears or snags after technical runs — small rips can be repaired with a fabric adhesive (like Gear Aid Aquaseal + FD) before they become a debris-entry point.
Check the racing laces and integrated strap for wear — the integrated strap is the most common point of failure on the lacing system, and replacement laces are available through TNF customer service.
Store the shoes in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Avoid long-term storage in a sealed plastic bag or stuff sack, which can trap moisture and lead to mildew or odor buildup.
For the SCREEGUARD™ gaiter, gently hand-wash the elastic portion separately if heavily soiled — do not pull or stretch aggressively when wet, as this can deform the high-recovery elastic.
