Hiking is easier in the Women's Exploration Pant. Lightweight stretch fabric moves with you over uneven terrain, while a roll-up securable hem provides lower-leg ventilation on warm climbs or stream crossings. Two hand pockets and a secure-zip thigh pocket hold what you need, and a non-PFC DWR finish sheds light showers when the weather rolls in. Tapered to the ankle for a clean line over hiking shoes.
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild technical wash — close the secure-zip thigh pocket and any hook-and-loop before tossing them in.
Turn the pants inside-out before washing to protect the non-PFC DWR finish, the secure-zip thigh pocket, and the embroidered logo.
Tumble dry on low heat for 20-30 minutes to reactivate the non-PFC DWR finish — heat is essential to keep water beading on the surface rather than saturating the face fabric.
Do not bleach, do not use fabric softener, and do not use dryer sheets — all three can coat the 93% recycled nylon + 7% elastane blend and degrade the stretch recovery, the breathability of the mesh pocket lining, and the DWR finish.
Do not iron, do not dry clean, and do not wring the pants when wet — wringing can damage the elastane fibers and stretch recovery over time.
Re-apply a non-PFC DWR spray-on treatment (like Nikwax TX Direct or Granger's Performance Repel) after several washes or whenever water stops beading on the surface — refreshes the water-shedding performance and extends the life of the recycled nylon fabric.
Hang the pants to dry fully between uses, especially after sweaty hikes or wet weather, to prevent mildew and odor buildup in the mesh pocket linings.
Store folded in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Avoid hanging by the waistband belt loops long-term, which can stretch the waistband out of shape.
Check the secure-snap hem buttons periodically for wear — the snap mechanism is the most likely point of failure over years of rolling and unrolling, and replacement is straightforward with a standard snap kit.
