Technology

WINDWALL™
Wind-resistant fabric that blocks wind penetration while remaining breathable
HEATSEEKER™
Synthetic insulation with hollow-core fibers — high warmth-to-weight, durability, and warmth even when wet
Cleaning
Machine wash cold (30 °C) on a gentle cycle with a mild technical detergent. Use two rinse cycles to fully flush the DWR finish and HEATSEEKER™ insulation residue. Do not use bleach or fabric softener — bleach weakens the recycled polyester face fabric and softener can clog the hollow-core HEATSEEKER™ fibers and strip the non-PFC DWR finish.
Drying
Tumble dry on low heat for 15–20 minutes or hang to dry. Low tumble heat reactivates the non-PFC DWR finish on the WINDWALL™ shell. Reshape the large-diamond quilting while damp to maintain an even pattern; high heat is unnecessary and can warp the VISLON® zipper teeth.
Re-Proofing
The non-PFC DWR finish on the WINDWALL™ body fabric can be reactivated by tumble drying on low heat. When water no longer beads on the surface, apply a PFC-free DWR spray treatment and tumble dry low to bond. Avoid washing the vest more often than necessary — each cycle gradually degrades the DWR.
HEATSEEKER™ Insulation
The 100 g HEATSEEKER™ synthetic insulation is hollow-core polyester — it retains warmth even when damp and recovers its loft after washing. Fluff the vest by hand after tumble dry to restore full loft; persistent compression in storage will reduce insulation performance over time.
WINDWALL™ Body Fabric
The 50D 78 g/m² WINDWALL™ 100% recycled polyester plain weave is wind-resistant and durably water-repellent. The plain-weave face resists abrasion on packs and seatbelts but can pill at high-friction zones — washing inside-out on gentle cycle preserves the face finish.
Diamond Quilting
The large-diamond quilting design is a signature feature of this vest — the chamber stitching keeps HEATSEEKER™ insulation evenly distributed. Check the chamber seams periodically; if a stitch breaks, the insulation can migrate and create cold spots. Lightly tugging the fabric can redistribute the fill back into the chamber.
VISLON® Zipper
The #5 VISLON® center front zip is durable and weather-resistant — brush grit and salt from the teeth with a soft toothbrush. The reverse-coil-zip hand pockets use finer teeth; lubricate sparingly with silicone-based zipper lubricant if the sliders stiffen. Always zip fully before laundering.
Roll-Over Collar
The roll-over collar adds warmth and structure — do not fold or crease it sharply during storage. The fabric can develop permanent lines if compressed at sharp angles for extended periods.
Oversize Dropped Armholes
The oversize fit with dropped armholes gives extra layering room but means the vest can catch on pack straps, seatbelts, and tree branches — be mindful of snags. The plain-weave face is durable but cuts with sharp edges (rock, ice axes) can fray the weave; clip loose threads with sharp scissors to prevent runs.
Side Slits & Curved Hem
The slightly curved high/low hem with side slits is designed for mobility — don't let the side-slit stitching catch on tool belts or harnesses. The hem stitching should be inspected periodically; loose threads can be clipped to prevent unraveling.
Heat Transfer Logo
The heat transfer logo on the left chest is bonded into the fabric — do not iron directly on it. Wash inside-out to protect the transfer; high heat or harsh detergents can cause the transfer to peel. If the vest needs ironing, do so on the reverse side only at low-medium heat.
Storage
Hang on a wide hanger by the collar in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. The HEATSEEKER™ insulation needs room to maintain loft — avoid compressing the vest for long periods in a stuffed pack or duffel. A breathable garment bag is recommended for off-season storage.
