Summit Series Verto Apex GORE-TEX® Boots
Summit Series Verto Apex GORE-TEX® Boots
Alpine Boot · Summit Series · Unisex · GORE-TEX® OAK XT · Vibram® MONT

Innovative and versatile, the Summit Series Verto Apex GORE-TEX® Boots are engineered as lightweight, high-performance, three-season boots. Purpose-built for trekking, climbing, and guiding on alpine terrain, they're designed to have enough stiffness and support for crampon usage while remaining comfortable and lightweight for easy walkability.

GORE-TEX® OAK XT 3L Waterproof Bootie
Durably waterproof GORE-TEX OAK XT 3L bootie with a liner made with 71% recycled polyester — delivers guaranteed waterproof, breathable protection in a three-layer construction that stands up to extended wet conditions, stream crossings, and deep snow.
400D Dyneema® Ripstop Upper
400D Dyneema® ultra-high-tenacity ripstop upper with rubber and synthetic reinforcements — Dyneema® is one of the strongest fibers per weight available, providing exceptional tear and abrasion resistance without the weight penalty of leather.
Vibram® MONT Rubber Outsole
Vibram® MONT rubber outsole with a TNF™-exclusive design combining max-traction 5.5 mm lugs with a surface optimized for gripping — delivers reliable traction on wet rock, loose gravel, mud, grass, and snow, purpose-designed for alpine approaches and technical terrain.
Semi-Automatic Crampon Capability
Heel bail and internal rigidity plate for semi-automatic crampon compatibility — the heel ledge locks into hybrid crampons like the Grivel G12, making this a true alpine approach boot that transitions from rocky trails to snow-covered ridgelines without changing footwear.
Medium-Volume Performance Fit
Medium-volume, performance fit optimized for trekking and alpine climbing — secure enough for technical terrain while maintaining enough volume for all-day comfort on long approaches. Unisex sizing: use the size guide for women's/men's conversions.
Extended Lower Ghillie Lacing
Metal lace hardware combined with extended lower ghillie lacing for a customizable fit — laces extend further down the toe box than typical boots, allowing precise adjustment of the forefoot and toe area for technical terrain where a secure fit prevents foot sliding inside the boot.
Adjustable Hook-and-Loop Top Strap
Adjustable hook-and-loop top strap at the collar provides a secure fit around the ankle and shin, plus debris protection — seals out dirt, scree, and snow from entering the boot collar during technical approaches or post-holing through fresh powder.
Protective Toe and Heel Reinforcement
Protective, reinforced scratch rubber toe cap and heel — shields the most impact-prone areas from rock strikes, toe jams on steep rock, and general abrasion from prolonged use in rugged alpine terrain.

Post-Use Care
After each alpine outing, remove the insoles and let the boots dry fully at room temperature with the laces loosened and the hook-and-loop strap undone. Never place wet boots near direct heat, on a radiator, or in a dryer — this causes the leather/synthetic to crack and the cement delamination that leads to water infiltration.
Cleaning
Brush off dried mud and dirt with a stiff brush after each use — grit and debris left in the lugs accelerates outsole wear and can work into the GORE-TEX bootie seams. For deep cleaning, hand wash the uppers with lukewarm water and a soft brush; never machine wash, which can damage the GORE-TEX membrane and delaminate the cement-constructed midsole.
GORE-TEX Bootie Maintenance
The GORE-TEX OAK XT bootie is designed to be durably waterproof — if the boots start wetting out (water soaking through rather than beading), apply a PFC-free DWR treatment to the upper face fabric and re-proof the rubberized areas with a silicone-based boot waterproofer. Avoid petroleum-based waterproofing waxes which can clog the GORE-TEX membrane pores.
Lug and Outsole Care
Check the Vibram® MONT lugs periodically for wear — deep snow and rocky terrain accelerate lug degradation. Replace the boots when lug depth falls below 3mm to maintain reliable traction on wet rock and technical terrain. Clean the outsole with a brush and water after crossing muddy or sandy sections to prevent lug packing that reduces grip.
Lacing System
Keep the metal lace hardware free of debris — rinse with fresh water after use in sandy or salty conditions. Inspect the laces for fraying, especially the lower ghillie section which takes the most stress on technical terrain. Replace worn laces promptly to maintain a secure fit.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Always store with the hook-and-loop collar strap loosened and laces undone to prevent the collar material from compressing and losing its shape. Remove the insole to help both boot and insole dry more thoroughly between uses.
