GORE-TEX® 3L Waterproof Shell
Durably waterproof GORE-TEX 3L fabric throughout — three-layer construction bonds the 75D 165 g/m² 100% recycled polyester plain weave face, the Gore membrane, and the Tricot backer into one inseparable layer for consistent weather protection without the weight or bulk of a separate lining; the 100% recycled face fabric diverts post-consumer plastic from landfill while maintaining the durability and weather resistance required for freeride use
Non-PFC DWR Finish
Non-PFC durable water-repellent finish on the face fabric — adds a layer of water repellency on top of the Gore membrane so water beads on the surface rather than soaking through, keeping the jacket lighter and faster-drying in wet snow and rain; no PFCs were used in the DWR treatment
Regular Articulated Fit
Regular fit with articulation specifically built for skiing and riding — shaped through the shoulders, arms, and torso to match the natural posture on a chairlift and during descent, without the bulk of extra room for layering alone
Helmet-Compatible Partial-Drop Hood
Adjustable, ski- and snowboard-helmet-compatible partial-drop hood with riveted cord-lock adjustment system — the partial-drop design sits lower on the head than a full-drop hood for better peripheral vision during aggressive descents; riveted cord locks are durable enough for gloved adjustment on a cold lift
Two-Way YKK® VISLON® AquaGuard® Front Zip
Two-way #5 YKK® VISLON® AquaGuard® center front zip with an internal draft flap — lets you dump heat from the bottom while the top stays zipped, or open from the top for quick ventilation; AquaGuard® water-resistant construction keeps the zipper from leaking in wet snow
Laser-Cut Summit Series™ Microperforations
Draft flap features laser-cut Summit Series™ microperforations for air permeability — allows moisture vapor to escape at the highest-stress ventilation zone (under the front zip) without compromising wind-blocking performance; laser-cut construction is cleaner than sewn perforations and won't tear or fray over time
Soft Brushed Tricot Chin & Neck Overlay
Soft, brushed Tricot overlay at chin and back of neck with laser-cut perforations for next-to-skin comfort — protects the face from the zipper and adds comfort at the collar, while the perforations allow moisture vapor to escape in this high-heat zone
Underarm Vents with YKK® FLATKNIT® Zips
Underarm vents with YKK® AquaGuard® FLATKNIT® zips — FLATKNIT® construction lies completely flat against the arm when open, eliminating the gap that standard zippers create; dumps heat effectively during hard uphill or warm spring skiing
Secure Zip Chest Pocket with Mesh Pouch & Cord Routing
Exposed secure zip chest pocket with an internal mesh pouch and cord routing — the mesh pouch keeps small items (radio, beacon) ventilated and visible, while the cord routing keeps headphone or comms cables organized and out of the way during a descent
Covered Bellowed Alpine Pockets
Covered, bellowed alpine pockets with #5 YKK® AquaGuard® zips — the bellowed construction expands to hold bulky items (goggles, gloves, skins) and the cover flap prevents snow from infiltrating the zipper; placed high on the jacket to remain accessible while wearing a pack or harness
Covered Horizontal Hand Pockets
Covered, horizontal hand pockets — the cover flap protects the zipper from snow and adds a clean aesthetic line across the chest; horizontal placement keeps the pockets accessible while wearing a pack waist belt or harness
Wrist Pocket with Goggle Wipe & Pass Pouch
Wrist pocket with #3 YKK® AquaGuard® zip, goggle wipe, and internal pass pouch — the goggle wipe is always accessible for lens cleaning without opening the main jacket, and the internal pass pouch keeps lift passes secure and accessible at the gate
Two Large Internal Mesh Drop-In Pockets
Two large, internal mesh drop-in pockets — oversized mesh pockets inside the jacket for goggles, gloves, snacks, or a water bottle; the mesh doesn't add weight or interfere with layering and lets wet gear drain rather than pooling moisture
Adjustable Cuffs with Bonded Tabs & Thumb Loops
Adjustable cuffs with bonded hook-and-loop tabs and integrated thumb loops — bonded construction lies flat against the arm and eliminates needle-punched holes in the fabric; integrated thumb loops keep sleeves in place when reaching overhead or layering under gloves
Stretch-Woven Powder Skirt with Integration Clip
Stretch-woven partial powder skirt with silicone gripper tape and a jacket-to-pant integration clip — seals out snow on deep-powder days; silicone gripper tape prevents the skirt from riding up, and the integration clip connects to compatible TNF pants for a continuous snow-seal system
Internal Hem Cinch-Cord with Hand-Pocket Routing
Internal hem cinch-cord with riveted cord locks at both sides for adjustability — cinch-cord ends exit into the hand pockets, so you can adjust the hem from inside without opening layers and without dangling cord ends; riveted cord locks are durable and won't slip under movement or in wind
Locker Loop Integrated into Center Back Label
Locker loop integrated into the center back label — the loop is hidden inside the brand label at the back of the neck, so it doesn't disrupt the silhouette but is available for hanging on a hook, carabiner, or pack loop between sessions

Washing
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with like colors. Use a mild technical cleaner such as Nikwax Tech Wash or Granger's Performance Wash — these are specifically formulated to clean technical outerwear without damaging the DWR finish, the Gore membrane, or the Tricot backer. Do not use fabric softener, bleach, or dryer sheets. Do not dry clean — solvents destroy the Gore membrane and can weaken the laser-cut Summit Series™ microperforations.
Drying
Tumble dry on medium to high heat per the care label — the heat actually reactivates the DWR finish on the face fabric, restoring water beading. A 20–30 minute tumble on medium-high heat after washing is the single best thing you can do to maintain the jacket's weather resistance. If line drying, tumble briefly on medium heat afterward to restore the DWR. Do not iron — ironing can damage the Gore membrane, melt the Tricot backer, and close the laser-cut perforations on the draft flap and chin guard.
GORE-TEX® Membrane Care
The GORE-TEX 3L membrane is bonded directly to the face fabric and Tricot backer — it cannot delaminate the way older 2L constructions could. The membrane itself never wears out; what degrades is the DWR finish on the face fabric (the outer surface stops beading water). The 3L construction also eliminates any internal friction between layers, which was the primary cause of membrane failure in 2-layer jackets. With proper care, a 3L GORE-TEX jacket outlasts virtually any other outerwear investment.
Non-PFC DWR Re-Proofing
When the face fabric stops beading water (water soaks into the fabric rather than forming droplets), re-apply a spray-on DWR treatment such as Nikwax TX Direct Spray-On or Granger's Performance Repel. Apply to the clean, damp jacket — pay extra attention to the shoulders (where pack straps concentrate wear), the upper back, the hood, and the cuff areas. Then tumble dry on medium-high heat to bond the treatment. Wash first with a technical cleaner to remove old residue that would block the new DWR from bonding to the fabric.
YKK® AquaGuard® Zipper Care
Three different AquaGuard® zipper sizes are used on this jacket: VISLON® #5 on center front, FLATKNIT® on underarm vents, and size #3 on the wrist pocket. All have PU coatings that can degrade with heavy use or contamination. Rinse zippers with fresh water after saltwater or chlorinated pool exposure. Do not force the zipper — if it sticks, a light application of Zeppa Zipper Lubricant or a silicone-based zipper wax restores smooth operation. Avoid petroleum-based lubricants which degrade the PU coating.
Laser-Cut Microperforations Care
The laser-cut Summit Series™ microperforations on the draft flap and chin guard are precision-cut — no fabric fraying or unraveling. Avoid high-heat ironing over these zones; heat can melt the precision-cut edges and close the perforations. If the perforations appear to "close up" over time (from sunscreen, body oils, or other residue), clean gently with a soft brush and mild soap — do not use solvents or adhesives near the perforations.
Powder Skirt & Integration Clip
The stretch-woven powder skirt with integrated jacket-to-pant clip seals snow out on deep-powder days. Check the integration clip periodically — the clip locks into compatible TNF pants and can accumulate snow, ice, or debris that prevents it from engaging. Rinse both the clip and the corresponding receptor on the pants after each major powder day. The silicone gripper tape on the skirt prevents it from riding up; a light application of silicone spray restores grip when the tape loses tackiness.
Helmet-Compatible Hood Care
The adjustable partial-drop helmet-compatible hood is designed to fit over a ski or snowboard helmet without obscuring peripheral vision. Store the hood in the relaxed (unadjusted) position — the riveted cord locks and adjustment system last longer when not kept under constant tension. If the hood loses its shape after being stuffed in a pack, a brief tumble in a warm (not hot) dryer restores loft.
Goggle Wipe & Pass Pocket
The goggle wipe in the wrist pocket is a terrycloth-like fabric — rinse it with fresh water after use in wet or salty conditions to prevent the material from hardening and losing its cleaning effectiveness. The internal pass pouch on the wrist pocket keeps lift passes accessible without exposing them to the elements; check the pouch's stitching periodically, especially after hard crashes.
Internal Hem Cinch-Cord Maintenance
The internal hem cinch-cord has riveted cord locks at both sides, with cord ends that exit into the hand pockets — this routing keeps the cord ends out of the way during activity and lets you adjust the hem from inside without opening layers. Inspect the cord periodically — the cord can fray at high-friction adjustment points (where it exits the cord lock). If fraying is visible, replace the cord before it snaps. The riveted cord locks are extremely durable but can fill with pocket lint or ice in wet conditions; clear with a needle or compressed air.
Thumb Loop & Bonded Cuff Tab Care
The adjustable cuffs combine bonded hook-and-loop tabs with integrated thumb loops. The bonded tab construction is more durable than sewn-on hook-and-loop but the hook-and-loop surface itself is the wear point — when the hook-and-loop loses grip, replace the cuff tab assembly at an authorized TNF repair center rather than trying to glue or sew a replacement. The integrated thumb loops should not be used to pull the jacket on — this stresses the seam and can cause the loop to detach over time.
Storage (Off-Season)
Store in a cool, dry place — hanging on a wide padded hanger is ideal to preserve the shoulder and hood shape. The GORE-TEX 3L construction doesn't require the same care as down or soft insulation, but leaving it compressed in a stuff sack for months can cause the Tricot backer to take a temporary set. Don't leave in a hot car — heat above 60°C/140°F degrades the Gore membrane and the DWR finish. Before storing for the season, wash and re-proof the jacket so it's ready for the first powder day.
