Featuring four-way stretch for maximum mobility, the Men's Summit Series Chamlang Soft Shell Pants have the technical and comfort-forward features you need for a successful alpine tour. Leg openings are designed specifically to accommodate a wide variety of boots, and WINDWALL™ fabric helps block frigid mountain winds — so you can move with confidence above the tree line on cold-weather ski tours, alpine ascents, and backcountry descents.
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild technical wash (like Nikwax Tech Wash or Granger's Performance Cleaner) — close all zippers (hand, thigh, leg openings) and secure any hook-and-loop before tossing them in.
Turn the pants inside-out before washing to protect the WINDWALL™ double-weave face fabric, the brushed backer, the bonded kickpatches, and the embroidered logo.
Tumble dry on low heat for 20-30 minutes to reactivate the non-PFC DWR finish — heat is essential to keep water beading on the surface rather than saturating the WINDWALL™ shell.
Do not bleach, do not use fabric softener, and do not use dryer sheets — all three can coat the WINDWALL™ double-weave fabric and degrade the DWR finish, the 4-way stretch, and the brushed backer next-to-skin comfort over time.
Do not iron, do not dry clean, and do not wring the pants when wet — wringing can damage the bonded double-weave construction, the internal bonded kickpatches, the 7% elastane stretch fibers, and the integrated webbing belt.
Re-apply a non-PFC DWR spray-on treatment (like Nikwax TX Direct or Granger's Performance Repel) after several washes to refresh the water-shedding performance of the WINDWALL™ fabric.
Inspect the internal bonded kickpatches and the leg-opening gusset zippers periodically for wear — the gusset zippers are the most-stressed component (frequent open/close) and benefit from a small application of zipper lubricant if they start to stick.
Check the boot tie-down eyelets and snap-tab mechanism on the leg openings periodically — the snap-tab is the most common point of failure on the gusset system, and a loose snap can be re-set with a snap repair kit.
Brush the brushed backer gently with a soft-bristle brush after drying to restore the soft interior texture — the brushed face can pill with heavy use.
Hang the pants on a wide hanger to dry fully between uses. Store hanging or loosely folded in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area — avoid long-term compression in a stuff sack, which can damage the bonded double-weave construction and reduce the 4-way stretch recovery over time.
