Exploration Without Compromise
Built under TNF's standard for products designed to be repaired, recycled, and kept in use longer

Technology

Mountain Athletics™
TNF's technical, athletic line tuned for climbing, hiking, and active mountain pursuits
Grid-Fleece Inlays
Channel construction fleece used at the hood, shoulders, and side panels for warm stretch + breathability in high-mobility / high-sweat zones
Cleaning
Machine wash cold (30 °C) on a gentle cycle with a mild technical detergent. Use two rinse cycles to fully flush the detergent residue. Do not use bleach, fabric softener, or stain remover — softener coats the fleece fibers and grid-fleece channels, blocking the loft that traps warm air and reducing the moisture-vapor transfer that grid-fleece relies on. Turn the fleece inside out before washing to protect the heat transfer logos on the left chest, back-right shoulder, and the Mountain Athletics™ logo on the left sleeve.
Drying
Tumble dry on low heat or hang to dry. Low tumble heat restores the loft of the main body fleece and the grid-fleece inlays. Avoid high heat — it can flatten the pile permanently, shrink the rib on cuffs and hem, and degrade the 4% elastane in the hood/shoulder/side panels. Remove promptly and shake the fleece to restore full loft.
Grid-Fleece Inlays
The 270 g/m² 96% recycled polyester / 4% elastane grid-fleece at the hood, shoulder, and side panels has a channel structure that traps warm air and wicks moisture — both depend on the pile loft staying open. Don't compress the fleece under heavy gear for long periods (which flattens the grid channels) and don't iron the grid-fleece zones — the channels can crush permanently.
Main Body Fabric Care
The 210 g/m² 58% recycled polyester / 42% polyester main body is durable and pilling-resistant. For high-friction zones (lower hem at hip-belt, pack-strap line), wash inside-out to extend surface life. Avoid sitting on rough concrete or rock with the fleece pulled taut, which can scuff the pile.
Hood Lining
The 75D 78 g/m² 100% recycled polyester hood lining is a smooth woven face over the brushed interior — wipe the lining with a damp cloth if it picks up hair or skin flakes rather than laundering the full garment. Confirm the hood lining is fully dry before storage.
Attached, Elastic-Bound Hood
The attached hood has an elastic binding at the edge for close fit — don't pull the fleece off by the hood (slide it off from the hem). The elastic binding can wear or stretch over time; if the elastic loses its snap-back, the hood service can be replaced through TNF's repair program under the limited lifetime guarantee. Don't store the hood cinched tightly compressed against the body for long periods.
Exposed Center Front Zipper
The exposed center front zip is a durable, easy-to-use closure. Zip fully before laundering to reduce stress on the slider and teeth. Brush the teeth with a soft toothbrush to clear grit and lint, and lubricate sparingly with silicone-based zipper lubricant if the slider stiffens. Don't force the slider past its stops.
Drop-in Hand Pockets
The drop-in hand pockets are warm and convenient but the brushed interior can pill with heavy use — don't store keys, carabiners, or abrasive items directly in the pockets. Empty and brush out the pockets occasionally to prevent grit from grinding into the pocket lining.
Secure-Zip Left Sleeve Pocket
The secure-zip sleeve pocket on the left sleeve is sized for trail passes, keys, or a small energy bar. Don't over-stuff (over-stuffing warps the pocket opening and stress-loads the sleeve seam). Brush the zipper teeth with a soft toothbrush to clear grit and lubricate sparingly with silicone-based lubricant if the slider stiffens.
Rib on Cuffs & Hem
The rib knit on cuffs and hem locks the fit and keeps the fleece from riding up during high-movement activities. Heat is the #1 enemy of rib — high-temperature tumble dry or any direct heat (radiators, hot dryers) can shrink the rib and tighten the fit permanently. If the rib stretches out over years of wear, it can be replaced through TNF's repair service.
Heat Transfer Logos
The heat transfer logo on the left chest, the back-right shoulder, and the Mountain Athletics™ logo on the left sleeve are bonded into the fabric — wash inside out to protect them from abrasion. Don't iron directly on the transfers; iron on the reverse side only at low-medium heat with steam. Harsh detergents, bleach, and high heat can cause the transfers to peel. Clip any lifted edges with sharp scissors to prevent further peeling.
Stretch Panels (4% Elastane)
The 4% elastane in the hood/shoulder/side panels gives the fleece its mobility — heat is the enemy of elastane (high-temperature wash, hot tumble dry, or any direct heat can break down the stretch fibers). Use cool water and low-heat tumble dry to keep the stretch alive.
Stone Slab Color
Stone Slab is a TNF neutral — wash with like colors the first few cycles to prevent dye transfer. Pile pills show on stone-colored fleece more visibly than dark colors, so washing inside-out on a gentle cycle preserves the face finish. Avoid prolonged UV storage, which can fade the stone tone over time.
Storage
Fold and store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. UV exposure fades the Stone Slab face fabric and breaks down the heat transfer logos. Avoid compressing the fleece under heavy gear for long periods — the grid-fleece channels flatten permanently if compressed for weeks. Confirm the fleece is fully dry before storage to prevent mildew in the pile.
