Girls’ Reversible Shasta Short Parka
Girls’ Reversible Shasta Short Parka
Kids’ Apparel · Outerwear / Reversible Short Parka

With HEATSEEKER™ insulation and a water-repellent finish on one side, and high-pile fleece on the other, the Girls’ Reversible Shasta Short Parka offers a powerful pairing against winter’s worst. The reversible design allows them to quickly adapt to the weather, while a relaxed fit means they’ll have room for layers either way. The extended length offers extra protection without slowing them down. We’ve updated our youth sizing. Please use our sizing guide to find your best fit.

Two-Jackets-in-One Reversible Design
Reversible construction offers two distinct jackets in one — flip it inside out for a different look and different performance. The outer side is a water-repellent insulated shell; the reverse side is a high-pile fleece for cozy casual wear
60 g HEATSEEKER™ Synthetic Insulation
60 g HEATSEEKER™ synthetic insulation (70% post-consumer recycled polyester) on the outer side — hollow-core fibers for warmth, performance, and durability; continues insulating when wet
Water-Repellent Outer Shell
Outer body 78 g/m² 100% recycled polyester with non-PFC DWR finish + quilting pattern — water beads off the surface, the insulation loft is preserved, real protection from light rain and snow
High-Pile Fleece Reverse
Reverse body 410 g/m² 100% polyester brushed-face high-pile fleece — substantial weight, soft hand-feel, cozy next-to-skin for casual wear and lounging
Two Different Pocket Systems
Two distinct pocket systems in one jacket: secure-zip hand pockets on the outer side (for active wear, secure storage) + open hand pockets on the reverse side (for casual wear, easy access)
Two Different Logos
Heat transfer logo on the left chest of the outer side (low-profile, weatherproof) + embroidered logo on the left chest of the reverse side (classic, dimensional)
Two Different Elastic Bindings
Elastic binding on the hood + cuffs of BOTH sides + hem of the reverse side — clean-finished edges, holds shape, no bulk at the openings
VISLON® Center Front Zip with Auto-Lock
VISLON® center front zip with auto-lock slider + chin guard — chunky plastic-toothed zip is reliable in cold weather, easy to operate with mittens, auto-lock keeps the zip in position during active play
Attached Three-Piece Hood
Attached three-piece hood on BOTH sides of the reversible — flips with the jacket, no need to detach. Provides consistent coverage whether worn outer-side or reverse-side
Set-In Sleeves with Slightly Dropped Shoulders
Set-in sleeves with slightly dropped shoulders — relaxed styling, comfortable for kids, layers easily over a sweater or hoodie
Relaxed Fit
Relaxed fit provides extra room through the body for layering + unrestricted movement — fits a sweater or hoodie underneath without binding
Recycled Materials + Circular Design
Outer body 100% recycled polyester, HEATSEEKER™ fill 70% post-consumer recycled polyester, high-pile fleece is mono-material polyester for end-of-life recyclability
ID Label
Inside ID label for the child’s name — helps at school, camp, daycare when many parkas look alike

Non-PFC DWR finish
Washing
Close the center front VISLON® zip fully and zip all pocket zips before washing. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with like colors. Use a mild technical cleaner such as Nikwax Tech Wash or Granger’s Performance Wash to maintain the non-PFC DWR finish on the 78 g/m² outer body, the HEATSEEKER™ fill loft, and the high-pile fleece’s soft hand-feel. Regular household detergent leaves residue that degrades the DWR over time and can mat the fleece’s brushed-face fibers. Avoid chlorine bleach, fabric softener, and dryer sheets. Do not dry clean (solvents destroy the DWR + the HEATSEEKER™ fill + the fleece fibers).
Reversible Washing Tip
Because the parka is reversible, washing with both sides zipped and the hood loose is recommended. Don’t wrap the parka tightly for washing — the reversible construction can trap water inside the parka if compressed, leading to incomplete rinsing and detergent residue. If you see white streaks on the fleece side after washing, that’s detergent residue — re-wash without detergent to remove.
Drying
Tumble dry on low with 2–3 clean tennis balls or dryer balls. The balls are critical for breaking up clumps in the 60 g HEATSEEKER™ fill and restoring loft. Drying can take 2–3 full cycles for a fully-loaded parka; the parka is fully dry when no clumps remain and the fill is evenly distributed. High heat damages the 78 g/m² recycled polyester face, the 410 g/m² high-pile fleece, the heat-transfer logo, the elastic bindings, and the auto-lock slider. Keep the dial low.
DWR Re-Proofing (Outer Side)
When water stops beading on the 78 g/m² 100% recycled polyester outer body, re-treat with a spray-on DWR such as Nikwax TX Direct or Granger’s Performance Repel. Apply to the clean, damp parka, paying extra attention to the shoulders (where backpack straps wear the DWR fastest), the upper back, and the cuff area. Don’t spray the high-pile fleece side — the DWR can mat the fleece fibers.
HEATSEEKER™ Re-Fluffing
The 60 g HEATSEEKER™ synthetic fill can lose loft over years of compression (especially after long storage under heavy gear). If the parka feels less warm than it used to, tumble dry on low with 2–3 clean tennis balls for 10–15 minutes to re-fluff the fiber clusters and restore thermal performance. Manual hand-fluffing of any clumped sections is also effective.
High-Pile Fleece Care (Reverse Side)
The 410 g/m² high-pile fleece is the most tactile part of the parka. Brush regularly with a soft-bristle brush (an old toothbrush works for the cuffs and hem) to keep the fibers upright. Don’t machine wash the fleece side with the DWR-treated outer side facing out — the DWR chemical can transfer and mat the fleece. If the fleece develops pills at high-friction zones (cuffs, hem, under backpack straps), use a fabric shaver to refresh.
Two-Pocket-System Maintenance
The two pocket systems need different care. Secure-zip pockets (outer side): keep the VISLON® coils clear of debris, lubricate sparingly with silicone-based lubricant (Nikwax, GE Silicone II) if they start sticking. Open pockets (reverse side): check the pocket-bag stitching periodically, as open pockets are more likely to catch on things and stress the seam. Empty both pocket systems before washing.
Two-Logo-Side Care
The two logos (heat transfer on outer + embroidered on reverse) need different care. Don’t iron directly on the heat transfer on the outer side — heat can melt the transfer film. Don’t iron directly on the embroidery on the reverse side either — heat can melt or distort the threads. If either logo peels or frays, a small dab of fabric adhesive can re-seal the edge.
Elastic Binding Care
The elastic binding on the hood + cuffs of both sides + hem of the reverse side is the most common wear zone. Don’t over-stretch the bindings when putting on or taking off — repeated over-stretching can permanently deform the elastic. If a binding starts to fray or pull loose, a quick hand-stitch with matching thread restores it.
VISLON® Zipper Care
The VISLON® center front zip is the most failure-prone part. The auto-lock slider locks when not actively pulling — to unlock, lift the slider tab slightly and slide. Keep the coil clear of debris with a soft brush, lubricate sparingly with a silicone-based lubricant (Nikwax, GE Silicone II, or beeswax) if it starts sticking, and never force a stuck zipper — back it off and clear debris from the coil.
Kids-Specific Care Notes
Kids’ parkas get dirty fast — grass, food, mud, marker, school cafeteria spills. Spot-clean small stains promptly with a damp cloth and mild soap. For heavier soiling (mud, food), pre-treat the spot with a small amount of mild soap, then wash the whole parka on a gentle cold cycle. Don’t use bleach, oxygen cleaners, or enzyme cleaners on kids’ parkas — they break down the HEATSEEKER™ fill, the high-pile fleece, and the non-PFC DWR finish.
Sizing & Growing Room (Updated)
Per the product page note: "We've updated our youth sizing. Please use our sizing guide to find your best fit." Most parents buy ½ to 1 size up to allow for growing room and to extend the parka’s usable life across one or two seasons. The relaxed fit accommodates this — a ½-size-up fit is usually comfortable. If the parka is too tight, the HEATSEEKER™ can’t loft properly and the reversible construction binds.
Storage (Off-Season)
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight. Don’t leave the parka packed in a stuff sack for long periods — the reversible construction is bulkier than a single-side parka, and long-term compression can flatten both the HEATSEEKER™ fill and the high-pile fleece. Don’t store damp — trapped moisture between the two layers leads to mildew and odor. Hang on a wide hanger or fold loosely. Keep out of direct sunlight (UV degrades both the 78 g/m² outer recycled polyester and the 410 g/m² high-pile fleece).
