Smith Summit MIPS

Go light. Go Far. From skin track to boot pack and summit bids, the Summit snow helmet is our lightweight go-to lid for backcountry touring and ski mountaineering. Its triple certified design meets global alpine ski certs plus international mountaineering standards. The design blends a minimalist approach with mountaineering-specific details to keep it ultra-light yet ready for alpine pursuits. Zonal Koroyd™ and MIPS™ impact protection absorb energy in the event of a fall. Smith Flexible Fit System, featuring BOA™ offers a micro-adjustable fit which also collapses into the helmet for easy stuffing into your pack. External bungee loops offer secure attachment to the outside of a pack, too. Integrated headlamp strap routing keeps a light in place, and a beanie and ball cap-compatible design lets you match the weather conditions. Thirty-three fixed vents keep the air moving and your goggles or glasses fog-free. Go ahead and set your sights on the summit.

Cleaning
Wipe the shell and liner with a damp cloth and mild soap after dusty or sweaty days. Remove the ear pads and liner for hand-washing in cold water with a gentle technical-gear cleaner. Do not machine wash, bleach, fabric softener, or standard laundry soap, which can degrade the EPS foam, BOA® dial, and anti-bacterial liner treatments.
Drying
Always air-dry the helmet completely before long-term storage. Pat the liner dry with a clean towel, then prop the helmet in a well-ventilated area away from direct heat. Avoid leaving the helmet in a hot car or near radiators, which can warp the shell and degrade the EPS foam.
EPS Inspection
Inspect the EPS foam liner after any hard impact, even if no damage is visible. Crushed, dented, or cracked foam means the helmet should be replaced, as EPS is engineered to absorb a single impact. Most helmet manufacturers also recommend replacing any helmet after 5 years of regular use, regardless of impact history.
BOA® and Buckle Care
Periodically check the BOA® dial and Fidlock® buckle for grit or ice buildup. Wipe with a dry cloth and clear any debris from the dial mechanism. The BOA® system is warrantied for the lifetime of the helmet, but the strap and buckle should be replaced if they show fraying or signs of wear.
Storage
Store the helmet in the included bag in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. UV exposure degrades the shell and EPS foam over time. Avoid resting heavy objects on top of the helmet, which can compress the EPS and reduce impact protection.
