A windproof construction and a 100% recycled ripstop shell with a non-PFC DWR finish helps keeps weather out, while elastic cuffs, a Merino-blend interior draft flap, and secure hand pockets help keep warmth in all winter long.
700-Fill Down + Reclaimed Merino Wool Blend
Insulation is 700 fill power, made with 80% recycled waterfowl down, blended with 20% reclaimed Merino wool for added performance. The 700-fill power delivers high-loft warmth for the parka's weight — the higher the fill power, the more warmth per ounce of down, so a 700-fill parka delivers serious warmth without the bulk a lower-fill parka would require. The 20% reclaimed Merino wool blended INTO the down fill (not just in the lining) adds Merino's natural thermoregulation and odor-resistance performance to the down's loft, creating an upgraded insulation that performs better than pure down in variable conditions.
Recycled Down & Recycled Wool — Lower-Impact Insulation
Filling: 64% Recycled Down/Reclaimed Down, 16% Recycled Waterfowl Feathers/Reclaimed Waterfowl Feathers, 20% Recycled Wool/Reprocessed Wool — the entire fill is reclaimed or recycled content. Recycled down reuses down that would otherwise go to waste from post-consumer bedding, post-industrial down products, and down reclamation programs; recycled feathers and reclaimed wool add the structural loft and the Merino performance without new raw material demand. The result is a parka with the warmth of virgin down plus the Merino performance, with a lower material footprint than a virgin-fill equivalent.
100% Recycled Ripstop Shell
The 100% recycled ripstop nylon shell is built for durability and finished with a non-PFC DWR designed for lightweight, weather-resistant protection. The ripstop weave reinforces the shell against tear propagation — a small puncture doesn't spread into a large rip — the recycled nylon delivers the abrasion resistance a winter parka's outer surface needs without the reliance on virgin nylon; the non-PFC DWR sheds light snow and rain without the perfluorinated chemicals of traditional DWR treatments.
Windproof Construction
Windproof construction for total wind protection — the shell fabric and the construction (sealed seams, draft flap) eliminate wind penetration at the parka's leading edges. On a chairlift, in a windy trailhead parking lot, or walking into a headwind on a winter hike, the windproof construction keeps the insulation's loft intact (a wind-blown parka loses the still-air layer the insulation creates) and prevents the wind-chill effect that turns a cold day into a dangerously cold day.
Elastic Cuffs — Seal In Warmth
Elastic cuffs designed to help seal in warmth — the elastic at the wrist tightens the cuff against the wrist to eliminate the cold-air gap between the parka sleeve and the glove or the wrist. The cuff seal matters most in deep cold and on windy chairlift rides where a loose cuff would let the wind tunnel up the sleeve and collapse the insulation's loft at the forearm.
Merino-Blend Interior Draft Flap
Merino blend at interior draft flap designed to keep you warm — the draft flap behind the zipper is lined with a Merino blend (56% Merino Wool, 44% Recycled Polyester, the same Merino-blend fabric used in the hood, collar, and pockets) so the chin and neck contact Merino rather than the windproof shell or the metal zipper. Merino against the chin and neck adds warmth at the highest heat-loss zone of the head and resists odor across multi-day wear.
Hood — Merino-Blend Lined
Hood is lined with the same Merino-blend fabric as the draft flap (56% Merino Wool, 44% Recycled Polyester) — the Merino-blend hood lining adds warmth and moisture management at the head without the bulk of a separate insulation layer in the hood. Merino against the forehead and the ears keeps the head warm without the itch a synthetic-only hood lining can develop.
Secure Hand Pockets
Secure hand pockets help keep warmth in all winter long — the hand pockets are lined with the Merino-blend fabric (same as the hood and draft flap) and have secure closures to keep essentials (phone, key, glove liners) safe. The Merino-lined pockets double as hand-warming pockets on a cold chairlift ride or a winter trail walk, adding a third use case beyond standard storage.
Regular Fit With Room To Layer
Our regular fit is intended to help give you room to move without additional bulk. Roomier than a slim-fit parka but not boxy — the cut leaves space for a base layer and a mid-layer (Smartloft, fleece, or similar) underneath without the binding a tight athletic fit would create at the chest and shoulder. Layers cleanly for the coldest days without the bulk an oversized parka would create.

Washing
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Wash separately — the Winterloft parka is the only piece in this product family that requires isolated washing, because the 700-fill down + reclaimed Merino wool blend is a more complex insulation than the family-standard base layers and mid-layers. Washing separately protects the parka's loft from the agitation of mixed loads and prevents the down-Merino blend from absorbing dye transfer from other garments. Use a mild, technical wash; avoid fabric softeners (they coat the Merino fibers in the hood/draft-flap/pocket lining and reduce natural moisture management).
Drying
Tumble dry low. The 700-fill down + reclaimed Merino wool blend benefits from low-heat tumble drying to restore the down's loft after washing — low heat re-fluffs the down clusters and revives the Merino wool's natural crimp. Tumble dry with a few clean tennis balls or dryer balls to break up any down clumps and restore the full loft of the insulation. Do not tumble dry on medium or high heat; high heat can damage the recycled down, scorch the Merino blend, and degrade the non-PFC DWR treatment on the recycled ripstop shell.
Bleach, Iron & Dry Cleaning
Do not bleach. Do not iron. Do not dry clean. Bleach breaks down Merino wool fibers (in the hood, draft flap, and pocket linings) and degrades the recycled down and wool in the fill. Ironing is unnecessary for an insulated parka and high heat can scorch the recycled ripstop shell and damage the non-PFC DWR treatment. The harsh solvents used in commercial dry cleaning strip the natural lanolin from the Merino blend and degrade the recycled down's loft retention.
Storage
Store on a wide wooden or padded hanger in a dry, breathable space. Down parkas should NOT be stored compressed (in a stuff sack) for long periods — compression damages the down loft and reduces the parka's warmth over time. The Merino-blend hood and draft flap will stay fresh across multiple wear days between washes (Merino's natural odor resistance); the parka's recycled ripstop shell handles everyday hanging without stretching. Use a breathable garment bag for long-term storage to protect against dust.
