The cushioning on the entire Hike Full Cushion Crew sock provides added protection and warmth for those chillier hikes. Full cushion delivers the highest-density padding across the entire foot and lower leg rather than just the sole — the right cushioning for shoulder-season and cold-weather hiking when a lighter-cushion sock would leave the foot cold and let the boot rub raw. The full cushion insulates the lower leg inside a hiking boot, absorbs the impact of long-distance trail miles, and protects the shin from boot-bang pressure on the downhill.
Women’s-Specific Fit
Women’s specific fit — the sock is knit in women’s proportions rather than a scaled-down unisex pattern. Narrower through the heel, contoured across the instep, and shaped for the actual geometry of a women’s foot. The women’s-specific fit is the differentiator from the unisex hike sock: it locks into the heel without slipping, eliminates the bunching at the instep that a unisex cut would leave, and wears correctly inside a women’s-specific hiking shoe.

Four compression bands — at the ankle, instep, arch, and upper cuff — lock the sock into the foot so it doesn’t bunch or slip inside a hiking boot. The dialed-in fit is the lock that defines a technical hike sock and the foundation that the rest of the sock’s cushioning and durability perform against.
Mesh Zones For Added Breathability
Mesh zones for added breathability — strategic knit openings across the top of the foot vent heat that builds inside a hiking shoe on the uphill, and reduce the pressure a denser full-cushion knit would put on the metatarsal bones during a long descent. The mesh vents heat and pressure in one move: cooler foot on the climb, fewer hot spots on the down, even with the full cushion underfoot.
Virtually Seamless™ Toe
Virtually Seamless™ Toe for enhanced comfort. A flat knit toe seam eliminates the thick ridge across the top of the toes that a standard sock leaves — inside a tight hiking boot, that ridge is pressed against the foot for hours and is the most common source of toe blisters on long hike days. The flat-knit toe seam removes the ridge, eliminating the friction point before it can start.
Comfort Welt With ‘Stay Put’ Fit
Comfort welt with ‘stay put’ fit — the banded cuff at the top of the sock is engineered to hold its position across the full hike without binding or cutting in. A standard hike sock welt either digs into the calf on long descents (too tight) or slides down into the shoe (too loose). The comfort welt holds the right tension: cuff stays up, elastic stays even rather than concentrated.
Crew Height — Above The Hiking Boot
Crew height rises above the ankle bone — the right height for hiking boots and mid-cut hiking shoes where a low-cut sock would expose the ankle to boot rub and trail debris. The cuff stays up under the boot’s collar without binding at the calf, and the height covers the ankle gap that no-show and micro heights leave when worn with a higher boot.

Washing
Machine wash on gentle cycle in warm or cool water. The Merino + nylon + elastane blend benefits from gentle agitation to protect the Indestructawool™ extended durability zones and the 4 Degree™ Elite Fit stretch recovery. Warm or cool water is fine — hot water can felt the Merino fibers and damage the elastane at the compression bands. Use a mild, technical wash; avoid fabric softeners, which coat the Merino fibers and reduce the natural odor resistance.
Drying
Tumble dry low. The full-cushion Merino + nylon + elastane blend benefits from low tumble heat to re-loft the dense cushion and the reinforced wear zones after washing. High heat can shrink the Merino fibers and damage the elastane at the 4 Degree™ compression bands — keep the setting low and remove promptly.
Bleach & Iron
Do not bleach. Do not iron. Bleach breaks down Merino wool fibers and degrades the nylon reinforcement in the Indestructawool™ extended durability zones. Iron heat can scorch the Merino blend and damage the elastane at the compression bands.
Dry Cleaning
Do not dry clean. The harsh solvents used in commercial dry cleaning strip the natural lanolin from Merino and degrade the nylon reinforcement and the elastane at the 4 Degree™ compression bands — both of which are core to the sock’s cushion and fit performance.
Storage
Store folded in a dry, breathable space. Merino’s natural odor resistance lets the sock cover multiple wear days between washes across a backpacking trip — folded storage preserves the full cushion and the reinforced wear zones. Avoid hanging for long periods, which can stretch the elastane out of the 4 Degree™ compression bands.
