Men's Smartloft Hybrid Jacket

This active-ready hybrid jacket balances warmth and movement with a 50% recycled wool insulation and a four-way stretch fabric paneled in key mobility zones. A wind-resistant, non-PFC DWR front panel helps block the elements while a Merino blend interior lining adds extra coziness.

Hybrid Construction — Warmth Where Static, Stretch Where Active
Active-ready hybrid jacket balances warmth and movement with two distinct fabric zones engineered for different demands — the front panel uses a wind-resistant, non-PFC DWR recycled polyester shell for protection from the elements at the chest's leading edge; the back body and sleeves use a four-way stretch Merino-blend knit for mobility at the shoulders, sides, and arms. Rather than a single fabric throughout, the hybrid construction places the right material at the right zone: weather protection where the body faces the wind, stretch where the body moves.
60g Smartloft™ 50% Recycled Wool Insulation
60g proprietary 50% recycled wool insulation — Smartloft™ technology wraps soft Merino fiber around a recycled wool core (50% Recycled Wool/Reprocessed Wool, 38% Wool, 12% Polyester in the fill) for the natural temperature regulation and odor resistance of Merino with the lower-impact material footprint of recycled content. The 60g weight is tuned for active cold-weather use — warm enough for a cold chairlift ride or a windy trailhead, light enough for the climb to keep the body's heat output from overloading the insulation.
Wind-Resistant Non-PFC DWR Front Panel
Non-PFC DWR and wind-resistant front panel help protect from the elements — the 100% recycled polyester shell on the front panel sheds light snow and blocks wind at the chest's leading edge, the highest-exposure area on a moving body. The non-PFC DWR treatment (no perfluorinated chemicals) delivers the water-shedding performance with a lower environmental impact than traditional PFC-based DWR treatments. The wind resistance works in tandem with the 60g Smartloft insulation to keep the core warm on windy days.
Four-Way Stretch At Mobility Zones
Four-way stretch fabric paneled in at key mobility zones — the back body and sleeves use a 54% Recycled Polyester / 38% Merino Wool / 8% Elastane knit that stretches in all four directions. The stretch panels are placed where the body needs mobility (shoulders, sides, arms) so the jacket moves with the body through skiing, climbing, and training movement rather than fighting it. The non-stretch front panel keeps the wind-resistant shell in place; the stretch panels handle the reach and rotation.
Merino Blend Interior Lining
Merino blend interior lining adds extra coziness — the entire jacket is lined with 56% Merino Wool, 44% Recycled Polyester (the same Merino-blend lining used in the Smartloft Cropped Jacket) so the interior face runs Merino against any base layer or skin showing at the cuffs and collar. Merino's natural temperature regulation and odor resistance mean the jacket stays comfortable across a wide range of activity levels without the stale smell a synthetic-only lining can develop over a multi-day trip.
Thumbholes At Cuffs
Thumbholes at cuffs lock the sleeve in place over the hand during high-output movement — the sleeve stays put when reaching overhead, swinging an arm, or pulling on a shell over the jacket. The thumbholes also seal the sleeve-to-glove transition when worn under a shell or with a glove, eliminating the cold-air gap at the wrist that bare-cuff mid-layers develop on cold descents.
Two Secure External Pockets
Two secure external pockets keep essentials accessible without the risk of dropping them on the move — sized for a phone, a key, or a pair of liner gloves. The pockets are placed for easy access without interfering with a pack's hip belt or a harness.
Regular Fit With Room To Move
Our regular fit is intended to help give you room to move without additional bulk. Roomier than a slim-fit insulation piece but not boxy — the cut leaves space for a base layer underneath without the binding or constriction a tight athletic fit would create at the chest and shoulder. Layers cleanly under a shell or a ski jacket for the coldest days.
Active Cold-Weather Versatility
Built for the active cold-weather uses where the hybrid construction delivers the right combination of warmth and mobility — cold-weather hiking, shoulder-season climbing, lift-served skiing, après-ski, winter trail walking, and active outdoor wear in shoulder-season cold. The 60g Smartloft insulation handles the active warmth without the bulk of a heavier parka; the wind-resistant front panel handles the wind chill; the four-way stretch handles the active movement; the Merino blend lining handles the cozy next-to-skin comfort.

Washing
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Wash with like colors — the hybrid construction (recycled wool insulation, recycled polyester shell, Merino blend lining) benefits from isolated washing to protect the fabric's performance and color integrity. Cold water protects the elastane recovery, the Merino lining fibers, and the non-PFC DWR treatment. Use a mild, technical wash; avoid fabric softeners (they coat the Merino lining fibers and reduce natural moisture management, and they can degrade the non-PFC DWR treatment and the elastane's stretch recovery in the back-body and sleeve panels).
Drying
Tumble dry low. The 60g Smartloft™ recycled wool insulation tolerates low-heat tumble drying — low heat re-fluffs the recycled wool fill and helps restore the DWR treatment's water-shedding performance over time. Do not tumble dry on medium or high heat; high heat can shrink the wool fill, damage the non-PFC DWR, and degrade the four-way stretch panels' elastane recovery. (Note: the Winterloft™ Hooded Parka in this family requires Wash Separately for its 700-fill down fill; this Smartloft Hybrid does not need Wash Separately because the recycled wool insulation is structured differently from the loose down fill of the parka.)
Bleach & Iron
Do not bleach. Cool iron as needed — do not iron decoration. Bleach breaks down Merino wool fibers (in the lining and in the back-body Merino-blend panels) and degrades the elastane in the four-way stretch zones. Iron only on low heat and only on the non-decorated fabric areas; high heat can scorch the Merino blend lining and damage the non-PFC DWR treatment on the front panel.
Dry Cleaning
Do not dry clean. The harsh solvents used in commercial dry cleaning strip the natural lanolin from Merino and degrade the recycled wool insulation's loft retention — both of which are core to the jacket's thermal performance.
Storage
Store folded or hung in a dry, breathable space. Merino's natural odor resistance means the jacket stays fresh across multiple wear days between washes, which extends the fabric's lifespan. Hanging is acceptable for this piece because the Smartloft™ recycled wool insulation is structured rather than loose-fill (unlike the Winterloft™ Hooded Parka's down fill, which should NOT be stored compressed or hung for long periods). Hanging won't distort the recycled wool fill the way it would distort a down parka's loft.
