Crafted in part with pre-consumer Smartwool Merino wool scraps, this jacket offers moisture management, temperature regulation, and odor resistance. And our regular fit is intended to help give you room to move without additional bulk—perfect for everything from running errands to a casual hike.
Designed With Circular Principles
Second Cut™ Fleece is crafted in part with pre-consumer Smartwool® Merino wool scraps — fibers recovered before they ever leave the production floor. The vest takes manufacturing waste and turns it back into wearable Merino performance, keeping the fiber loop closed instead of adding to the waste stream.
Second Cut™ Recycled Construction
Main body is built from a 50% Recycled Polyester / 25% Merino Wool / 25% Recycled Wool blend — a true circular fabric where 75% of the body content is recovered fiber (50% recycled polyester + 25% recycled/reprocessed wool). The remaining 25% virgin Merino handles the next-to-skin performance.
Merino Performance With Recycled Polyester
Fabric helps combine the moisture management, temperature regulation, and odor resistance of Merino wool with the durability of recycled polyester. Merino manages the next-to-skin comfort across multi-day wear; recycled polyester holds the fleece shape through wash and wear.
Regular Fit
Our regular fit is intended to help give you room to move without additional bulk. The vest sits cleanly at the shoulder and through the body, leaving room for a long-sleeve tee, henley, or Merino crew underneath without compressing or bunching.
Sleeveless Core Warmth
The sleeveless construction warms the core where heat loss hits hardest on cool-morning errands and casual hikes, while leaving the arms free for full range of motion. The vest is the mid-layer spot that doesn’t add bulk under a shell and doesn’t restrict reach, carry, or tool use.
Two Drop-In Hand Pockets & Secure Chest Pocket
Two drop-in hand pockets (lined with 100% Recycled Polyester) carry the everyday carry — phone, wallet, keys, gloves — without crowding the rest of the kit. The secure chest pocket adds zip-secure storage for the things that can’t fall out: a passport on the train, a transit card, an airtag. Pocket trim is 100% Recycled Nylon for abrasion resistance where hands go in and out.
Locker Loop At Interior Back Neck
A locker loop at the interior back neck makes the vest easy to hang on a hook at the trailhead, the workshop, the office, or the cabin door. The detail is knit into the construction rather than stitched on, so it’s there when you need it without adding a tab that catches on pack straps.
Quick-Drying Fleece
The fleece construction offers the perfect blend of comfort, breathability, and quick-drying warmth — warmth that doesn’t sit as a heavy wet layer when the temperature shifts or the activity level picks up. The right weight for shoulder-season layering and around-town wear alike.
Layered Or Standalone Wear
Designed for everything from running errands to a casual hike. Worn solo over a long-sleeve tee or henley on cool-morning walks and weekend trail loops; layered under a Hardshell or packable rain jacket when the weather turns. The fleece face stands up to pack-strap abrasion without pilling.

Washing
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with like colors. Cold water protects the recycled wool fibers and prevents shrinkage of the knit; the gentle cycle keeps the fleece face intact. Turn the vest inside out before washing to reduce surface abrasion on the outer knit and protect the locker loop at the interior back neck.
Drying
Lay flat to dry. The 25% Recycled Wool/Reprocessed Wool content can lose shape under tumble-dry heat; laying the vest flat on a clean towel preserves the fit and the shoulder structure through hundreds of wear cycles. Keep out of direct sunlight to protect color.
Bleach
Do not bleach. Bleach damages Merino wool fibers, weakens the recycled-polyester backbone, and strips the color from the recycled wool.
Ironing & Decoration
Cool iron as needed. Do not iron decoration. The fleece recovers from light wrinkles with steam or a cool iron; direct high heat on any printed graphics or heat-transfer logos will scorch or distort the surface.
Dry Cleaning
Do not dry clean. The harsh solvents used in commercial dry cleaning strip the natural lanolin from Merino and degrade the recycled-polyester and recycled-wool fiber structure, leaving the vest brittle and prone to pilling.
Storage
Hang from the locker loop at the interior back neck, or fold and store in a cool, dry place. Hanging by the locker loop is the long-term storage pattern this vest was designed for — the loop holds the shoulder seams without stretching them, and the vest stays ready to throw on without re-shaping.
