Nano Mosquito Pyramid Net Shelter
Nano Mosquito Pyramid Net Shelter
Ultralight Hanging Bug Shelter · Single / Double · 96–165 g

The Nano Mosquito Pyramid Net Shelter is the lightest option in the Mosquito Pyramid Net family. It's a hanging shelter for sleeping in bug country, used over a cot, sleeping pad, or mattress.

Ultra-Vis 15D Black Mesh Netting
15D Ultra-Vis 80 hole/cm² hexagonal black mesh offers high visibility — half the denier of the standard Mosquito Pyramid Net (50D), with the same hexagonal weave density. The thinner mesh cuts weight in half while maintaining the same high-visibility black mesh design.
Fine 80 hole/cm² Hexagonal Mesh
Fine 80 hole/cm² hexagonal mesh — the holes are small enough to keep out mosquitoes and most insects, while still allowing full airflow. Hexagonal weave is stronger per weight than square weave, and the same density as the standard Mosquito Pyramid Net.
Finely Woven Multi-Filament Polyester
Finely woven multi-filament polyester is ultra-lightweight and ultra-compact — softer than most bug netting, so it drapes over your body and gear without scratching. The fine filaments also resist snagging on velcro, zippers, and rough edges.
Asymmetric Hanging Point (Apex Near Head)
Asymmetric shape for improved headroom — the apex of the pyramid is closer to the head end, so you get more vertical space where your head and shoulders need it, and the tail end is lower where your feet are. Not a true rectangle, but a smarter shape.
Elasticised Hem Tucks Under Mat
Elasticised hem secures net under mat for extra protection — the hem is designed to be tucked under your sleeping pad or mattress to create a complete bug-proof seal. No gaps for bugs to crawl in under the edge.
Elasticised Hanging Cord
Elasticised hanging cord minimises snagging and aids in height adjustment — the cord has built-in elasticity that absorbs snags and pulls rather than tearing the shelter, and the elastic nature makes height adjustment smoother and more forgiving than a fixed cord.
Colour-Coded Corners
Colour-coded corners for easy setup — each corner has a different colored tape so you can quickly identify the head end, foot end, and side corners when pitching in low light. No fumbling in the dark.
Aluminium Spreader Pole (Double Version)
Aluminium spreader pole used on double version — keeps the wide end of the Double shelter open so two sleepers can lie side-by-side without the mesh collapsing on them. The Single version doesn't need a spreader pole because the body shape holds it open.
Includes Stuff Sack
Comes packaged in its own stuff sack — pack the shelter into the stuff sack for travel, and use the same sack to keep the shelter clean and dry on the trail. No extra stuff sack to lose or forget.
Permethrin-Compatible
A spray-on or wash-in permethrin treatment will not harm the shelter's material — permethrin adds an extra layer of bug protection by killing insects on contact, useful in heavy mosquito or tick country. Re-treat every 6 weeks for sustained effectiveness.
NOT for No-See-Ums
Important limitation: 500 holes per square inch is great for mosquitos and most other bugs, but no-see-ums (biting midges) require a mesh with at least 1200 holes per square inch. A no-see-um net material has reduced airflow as a result. If you're heading to no-see-um country (Caribbean, Florida, parts of SE Asia), you'll need a different shelter with finer mesh.

Use

Best Use
Ultralight trekking in mosquito country, traveling, wilderness camping, hostel/hotel use
Suspension Point
Tree branch, shelter ceiling, hotel ceiling hook, or any overhead anchor
Under Tarp?
Not recommended — tarps don't typically have a central hanging point, and the height requires pitching the tarp far from the ground. See Escapist Inner Bug Tent for tarp-compatible bug protection.
Compatible With
Use over cot, sleeping pad, or mattress (Double = side-by-side two sleepers)
Important Limitation
NOT for no-see-ums / biting midges — mesh is too coarse (need 1200+ holes/in² for no-see-um protection)
Hand Wash with Extreme Care
Hand wash the mesh with warm water and mild soap (like Nikwax Tech Wash or diluted dish soap) — the 15D mesh is even more delicate than the standard 50D, so handle with extra care. Don't wring, twist, or scrub. Rinse gently and air dry flat or hanging.
Treat with Permethrin as Needed
A spray-on or wash-in permethrin treatment will not harm the shelter's material — for heavy bug country, treat the entire mesh with Sawyer Permethrin or Insect Shield pre-treatment. Re-treat every 6 weeks of use, or after every wash. The fine 15D mesh holds permethrin well.
Inspect Mesh for Tears Before Each Trip
Before each trip, hold the mesh up to the light and inspect for small holes, snags, or worn spots — a single hole in a bug shelter defeats the entire purpose. The 15D mesh is more delicate than the standard 50D, so check more carefully. Patch small holes with Gear Aid Tenacious Tape.
Repair Small Tears with Tenacious Tape
Small tears in the 15D mesh can be repaired with Gear Aid Tenacious Tape patches — cut the patch slightly larger than the tear, apply from the inside of the shelter, and let cure 24 hours. Mesh tears grow fast if not patched, especially in the thin 15D fabric.
Store in Stuff Sack, Dry
Always store the shelter in the included stuff sack, completely dry — trapped moisture leads to mildew and odor in the mesh, and can damage the permethrin treatment if applied. Hang the shelter to air dry for 30 minutes after the last use before packing.
Avoid Snagging on Sharp/Course Edges
The 15D multi-filament mesh is soft and lightweight but more snag-prone than the standard 50D — avoid contact with velcro, zippers (especially YKK zippers without flaps), and rough bark or rock edges. Set up in clear space, not directly under branches that could drop debris.
