Lightweight Dry Bag
Lightweight Dry Bag
Waterproof Storage · 7 Sizes · 1.5L–35L · 34–115 g

The updated Lightweight Dry Bag is Sea to Summit's most versatile design — flexible in both senses of the word, soft and pliable, and ideal for many different uses. Made from a bluesign APPROVED recycled 70D nylon with a C0 non-PFAS DWR finish, the interior polyurethane coating is white to improve visibility and make it easy to find small items in poor light. Lightweight Dry Bags are available in various colors to optimize color-coded packing. They use the same hypalon non-wicking roll-top closure as other dry sacks and feature a D-ring attachment point at the buckle. The new oval base prevents the dry bag from rolling away on sloping surfaces. All Lightweight Dry Bags post-2024 are compatible with the Dry Bag Sling. Ideal for backpacking, cycle touring, travel, ski touring, and paddle sports. Also available in the View (clear window) and First Aid versions.

Roll-Top Closure + Field Repair Buckle
Roll-top closure secured with the patented Field Repair Buckle for a reliable seal — fold the top down 3-4 times, clip the buckle, and water stays out. The Field Repair Buckle is field-replaceable if it ever breaks (no need to replace the whole bag), and the same buckle design is used across the entire dry bag line.
10000mm Hydrostatic Head
Body of the dry bag is waterproof with a 10000mm hydrostatic head — fully taped and double-stitched seams keep water out in rain, splashes, and brief submersions. The roll-top is not 100% sealed (no dry bag truly is), so avoid extended submersion. For full submersion, pair with a waterproof pack liner or hard case.
Double-Stitched + Fully Taped Seams
Double-stitched and fully taped waterproof seams — the strongest seam construction in the Sea to Summit dry bag line, designed to hold up to years of stuffing, pulling, and rough handling. No seam failure under normal use.
7 Sizes: 1.5L / 3L / 5L / 8L / 13L / 20L / 35L
Seven sizes cover every packing need — 1.5L for electronics and toiletries, 3L for socks/underwear, 5L for a down jacket, 8L for a sleeping bag, 13L for a 3-season sleeping bag + layers, 20L for a full kit, 35L for winter bag or extended trips. Mix and match for a complete waterproof packing system.
Oval Base (NEW for 2024+)
NEW oval base prevents the dry bag from rolling away on sloping surfaces — and packs better in flat-bottomed packs and duffels. No more dry bags sliding off a tilted picnic table or rolling across a tent floor.
White Interior for Visibility
Light reflecting white interior for better visibility of gear — the white coating bounces light around inside the bag, making it easy to find small items (headlamp, batteries, snacks) in poor light. Significantly more functional than the typical dark dry-bag interior.
D-Ring Attachment Point
D-ring attachment point at buckle for securing to boats, bikes, kayaks, or for bear hangs. The D-ring takes the load, not the buckle — important for tree hauls where you don't want full body weight on a small plastic part.
5 Colors for Color-Coded Packing
Available in 5 colors (Surf the Web, Sulphur, Spicy Orange, Burnt Olive, Beluga) for color-coded packing — assign red to first aid, blue to electronics, green to food, etc. Toss the right color in the pack and know what's in it before opening.
Hypalon Non-Wicking Closure
Uses the same hypalon non-wicking roll-top closure as other Sea to Summit dry sacks — the hypalon strip prevents water from wicking through the fabric fold at the top, the most common point of water entry in roll-top bags.
Compatible with Dry Bag Sling
All Lightweight Dry Bags post-2024 are compatible with the Dry Bag Sling (sold separately) — turn any size into a shoulder bag for portaging or boat-to-camp transport. Modular design for true versatility.

Rinse & Dry After Salt-Water or Muddy Use
After paddle sports or muddy camping trips, rinse the dry bag with fresh water and let it air dry completely before storing — salt crystals and mud can degrade the DWR finish and PU coating over time. A quick freshwater rinse extends waterproof life dramatically.
Replaceable Field Repair Buckle
The buckle is the most common point of failure on any dry bag — the Sea to Summit Field Repair Buckle is field-replaceable with no tools, so a broken buckle doesn't mean a dead bag. Keep a spare buckle (sold separately) in your repair kit for trips where replacement is critical.
Re-Proof DWR Every 1-2 Years
Re-proof the C0 DWR finish every 1-2 years with a spray-on treatment (like Nikwax TX Direct Spray-On or Granger's Performance Repel) — restores water beading on the fabric surface and extends the water-resistant lifespan. The C0 DWR is more environmentally friendly than older C8 formulas but does wear off with use.
Avoid Sharp Objects & Abrasive Surfaces
The 70D ripstop is tough but not puncture-proof — avoid dragging the bag across sharp rocks, jagged branches, or rough concrete. Sharp objects (pocket knives, tent stakes, fishing hooks) can puncture the bag and compromise the waterproof seal. Repair punctures with Gear Aid Tenacious Tape.
Store Dry & Open
Always store the dry bag completely dry and unrolled (or loosely rolled) — trapped moisture leads to mildew, mold, and a sour smell that transfers to gear on future trips. Storing unrolled also reduces stress on the roll-top closure seam.
Roll-Top Best Practices
For a watertight seal, fold the top down at least 3-4 times before buckling (3 folds for 10000mm, 4+ for extra security in heavy rain) and make sure the buckle is clipped straight, not twisted. A twisted buckle is the #1 cause of roll-top leaks.
