PU Coated Zips + IP6X Dust Protection
PU coated zips and RF welded seams keep the elements out — IP6X certification for dust ingress protection, meaning each cube is fully sealed against fine dust, sand, and grit. Zippers withstand splashes but not submersion.

Wipe Clean with Warm Water & Soap
The laminate on each cube can simply be wiped down with warm water and dishwashing soap — no machine wash needed. Wipe the inside and outside of each cube, rinse with clean water, and air dry. The TPU laminate is easy to clean and doesn't absorb odors.
Lubricate Zippers in Sandy Conditions
If you use the packing cubes in sandy conditions, cleaning and lubricating all three zippers with a specialized zipper lubricant (like Gear Aid Zipper Cleaner + Lubricant or similar) is recommended — sand works into the zipper teeth and can cause sticking or failure. A quick spray and wipe-down after sandy trips extends zip life dramatically across the set.
Don't Machine Wash or Dry
Skip the washing machine and dryer — the RF-welded construction and TPU laminate are best cleaned by hand. Machine washing can damage the welded seams and the TPU window on all three cubes, and the heat of a dryer can warp the cube shape.
Air Dry All 3 Cubes Before Long-Term Storage
After cleaning or after a trip in wet conditions, let all three cubes air dry completely before storing — trapped moisture inside a cube can lead to mildew on the contents and odor that transfers to clothes on future trips.
Avoid Sharp Objects & Abrasive Surfaces
The 70D ripstop will resist punctures but isn't puncture-proof — avoid dragging any cube across sharp rocks, jagged branches, or rough concrete. The TPU laminate can be scored by sharp objects, which compromises the water resistance of the affected cube.
Inspect RF Welds on All 3 Cubes Seasonally
At the end of each season, run your fingers along the RF-welded seams on all three cubes looking for any separation, peeling, or weak spots — a failing weld can let in dust or water, defeating the cube's primary purpose. Address small failures with a TPU repair patch.
