Hangout Mode Pole Set
Hangout Mode Pole Set
Telos Tent Accessory · 2 Custom DAC Poles · 135 g

Don't want to use trekking poles to activate Hangout Mode in your Telos tent? These custom DAC Featherlite NSL poles are designed to make Hangout Mode set-up a breeze. Just extend, pop into place, peg out, and voila — the perfect semi-open sheltered spot to hang out. The set combines lighter Featherlite NSL Ø8.5mm poles with stronger, thicker NSL Ø9.0mm poles for the optimal strength-to-weight balance, and the three-segment construction folds down to fit with the main tent pole set. Custom pole strap keeps the set bundled together, and the included nylon stuff sack keeps them organized in your pack.

Custom DAC Featherlite NSL Poles
Built by DAC — the same premium pole manufacturer used in high-end expedition tents — in the Featherlite NSL series. Aerospace-grade aluminum alloy with a green anodized finish for corrosion resistance and the lightest possible weight.
Mixed-Diameter Construction
Combination of Featherlite NSL Ø8.5mm poles with stronger, thicker NSL Ø9.0mm poles — the right diameter in the right section for the optimal strength-to-weight balance. Where you need more strength (lower section taking body weight), you get Ø9.0mm. Where you need to save grams (upper section), you get Ø8.5mm.
Extends to 1.25m / 4.1ft
Both poles extend to 1.25m / 4.1ft — the exact height needed to set up Hangout Mode on the Telos tent with a taut awning and proper ventilation. Pre-cut, no field length adjustment needed.
Three-Segment Foldable
Three-segment pole design folds down to a compact bundle — fits in the same storage area as the main Telos tent pole set, no separate packing required. Pop the segments open, lock the ferrules, and you're ready in seconds.
Bundled with Pole Strap
Easy-to-use pole strap keeps the set bundled together when stored — no tangled poles, no missed sections, and the strap itself is a lightweight elastic that adds almost no weight to the pack.
Anodized Aluminum Finish
Anodized aluminum poles resist corrosion from moisture, salt air, and body oils — important for a tent accessory that lives in the wet, humid world of a packed tent bag and gets handled every time you set up camp.
Nylon Stuff Sack Included
Nylon stuff sack keeps the poles organized and protects them (and the rest of your pack) from abrasion. Stuffs into the smallest possible bundle for packing.

Alternative Use
Can substitute for trekking poles when using Hangout Mode — but NOT designed to support body weight on the trail
Inspect Ferrules & Segments Before Each Trip
Before each trip, extend each pole and check the ferrules (joints between segments) for cracks, splits, or weak clicks — a ferrule that won't lock properly is a pole that will collapse mid-setup. Inspect the segments for deep dents or bends, especially after a trip that involved strong winds or rough handling.
Keep Clean & Dry in the Stuff Sack
After each trip, wipe the poles down with a dry cloth, let them air-dry completely, then store in the nylon stuff sack — moisture trapped inside a folded pole bundle can corrode the anodized finish and damage the elastic shock cord inside the segments.
Not Designed for Body Weight
These poles are designed for Hangout Mode setup ONLY — they are NOT trekking poles and are not engineered to support your body weight on the trail. Using them as trekking poles can bend the smaller-diameter sections and damage the ferrules, voiding the warranty.
Avoid Bending Under Tension
Never force a pole to lock into a position that has it bent under high tension — the DAC aluminum can fatigue and crease under extreme bending, which is permanent damage. If a pole feels like it's under too much stress to seat, back off and check your setup.
Replace Damaged Poles Promptly
A damaged or bent pole compromises the entire Hangout Mode setup — a pole that collapses in the field means a wet, uncomfortable shelter. Replace damaged poles through Sea to Summit's customer service rather than attempting field repairs with duct tape or splints.
