Frontier UL Collapsible Pouring Pot
Frontier UL Collapsible Pouring Pot
2.2L Collapsible Pouring Pot · Patent-Pending LidKeep · Click Safe SS Handle · Nests Frontier Dinnerware · 10.5 oz

Sea to Summit pioneered collapsible camp cookware, and now elevates it to the next level. The Frontier Pouring Pot has EU/Japanese food-grade silicone rubber sidewalls, allowing the pot to collapse down for packing then extend out when you're ready to create great outdoor meals. The hard-anodised aluminium alloy base spreads heat quickly and efficiently, and the alloy lid has a LidKeep. Use this patent-pending innovation to clip the lid to the side of the pot, giving you a free hand (and solving the problem of what to do with a hot, clean lid). While cooking, hold the pot securely with the stainless steel Click Safe handle. When you pack, turn the handle around to keep the lid — and any nesting tableware — secure in your pack.

Patent-Pending LidKeep
STS patent-pending innovation — clips the lid to the pot sidewall (no clean counter needed).
2.2L Capacity
Largest in the Frontier line — full couples cooking with pour control.
Nests w/ Dinnerware
"Designed to nest with Frontier collapsible dinnerware" — full couples UL kitchen.
SS Click Safe
Stainless steel Click Safe handle (interchangeable across Frontier pots per FAQ).
"Pouring Spout"
Wide rim = pour control (no splashing) — unlike the round bowls.
10.5 oz / 297 g
Under 11 oz for a 2.2L pot — premium weight-to-capacity ratio.
Patent-Pending LidKeep (NEW INNOVATION)
The Frontier Pouring Pot features a patent-pending LidKeep (per STS description): Per STS: "Use this patent-pending innovation to clip the lid to the side of the pot, giving you a free hand (and solving the problem of what to do with a hot, clean lid)." Why this is special: - Patent-pending = STS has filed for patent protection - Innovation specifically for outdoor kitchens - Clips the lid to the OUTSIDE of the pot rim - Solves the "where do I put the hot lid" problem - Frees your hand for cooking How it works: - Silicone clip built into the lid - Catches the pot rim when inverted - The lid hangs on the side - Both hands free for cooking - Easy to detach when done LidKeep variants in the line: - Frontier Kettle Cook Set: simple LidKeep (clip to side) - Frontier One Pot Cook Set (1L & 5-Piece): same LidKeep concept - Frontier Pouring Pot: patent-pending LidKeep (NEW specifically designed for pouring) The "Pouring" aspect: - The wide rim doubles as a pour spout - Lid clipped to side = lid never in the way while pouring - = Designed specifically for water transfer + cooking
"Designed to Nest with Frontier Dinnerware" (NEW INTEGRATION)
Per STS: "Designed to nest with Frontier collapsible dinnerware" What "nests" means here: - The Frontier Dinnerware Sets (built earlier) nest INSIDE this pouring pot - 6-Piece Dinnerware (A1341): bowls + cups = 394 g, nests in this pot - 3-Piece Dinnerware (A1340): smaller set also nests - The pots act as the container for the dinnerware Practical benefit: - ONE packed bundle for the whole kitchen - Pots as the outer + heavy component - Dinnerware nested inside for protection - LidKeep holds the lid + nested contents together - Click Safe handle reverse-locks the lid System weight total: - This Pouring Pot: 296.7 g - 6-Piece Dinnerware: 394 g - Combined: ~691 g = 24 oz for full couples kitchen - = Premium UL system Comparison to One Pot Cook Set (A1246): - One Pot Cook Set: 1L pot + cup + spork (solo system) - Pouring Pot: 2.2L pot + nests with 6-Piece Dinnerware (couples system) - Pouring Pot is more versatile (can scale from 1 person to couples)
Click Safe Handle (Interchangeable, NEW FAQ)
Per STS FAQ: "Will the Click-Safe handle fit other Frontier Pots? Yes - the Click-Safe handles are interchangeable." What's the Click Safe handle: - Stainless steel hardware (per material spec 22% 304 SS) - Click-on attachment to the pot - Reverse for transport (locks the lid + nested contents) - Same design as the Detour line + other Frontier pots The interchangeable feature: - 1 handle works across multiple Frontier pots - Buy spares if you own multiple pots - Replace a damaged handle without trashing the pot - Standardized hardware across the line For 304 stainless steel: - Most durable material in the line - Same grade as Detour Stainless Steel Cookware - Per material spec: "22% 304 stainless steel + 24% silicone + 54% Aluminium" - = 304 SS = food-grade stainless (same as kitchen knives)
NOT Non-Stick, NOT for Frying (Per FAQ)
Per STS FAQ: "Is the base of the collapsible pouring pot non-stick? No, it's polished anodized aluminum. The collapsible pot is not suitable for frying or sautéing." Key insights: - No non-stick coating on this pot (unlike the One Pot Cook Set 5-Piece which has ceramic non-stick) - = Polished anodized aluminum only - NOT for frying or sautéing - For water-based cooking (boil, simmer, rehydrate) Why the difference vs the One Pot Cook Set 5-Piece (A1242): - A1242 has ceramic non-stick finish - A1229 (this) does NOT have ceramic non-stick - = Two different products in the same line - A1242 is for cooking; A1229 is for pouring + basic cooking Choose A1242 (with ceramic non-stick) for: - Active cooking - More versatile Choose A1229 (this, without ceramic) for: - Pure pouring + water heating - Lighter weight - Simpler design
3 Critical FAQ Insights (Same + 1 New)
FAQ insights (4 total): 1. NOT dishwasher safe (per FAQ: caustic detergent damages anodization. "Passage tableware is dishwasher safe" — repeat reference) 2. Click-Safe handles are interchangeable (per FAQ — same as prior builds) 3. NOT induction compatible (per FAQ: use Detour Pots) 4. NOT non-stick + NOT for frying (per FAQ NEW for this pot) These are the same FAQ answers as the other Frontier pots, with one addition: - The One Pot Cook Set added the "no frying" warning - This set adds the "not non-stick" detail
Award-Worthy + 2.2L = Largest in Frontier
The 2.2L Pouring Pot is the largest capacity in the Frontier UL line: Why 2.2L matters: - Most of the Frontier line is 1L or 1.1L - 2.2L is the biggest pot in the Frontier line - Couples cooking without sharing a small pot - Pour water for both diners at once - Wash up after a meal Per STS positioning: - "Sleek and functional design" for backcountry - Premium + ultralight - "Collapses down to less than 5cm for storing" — that's the 2" thick packed profile Versus the 1L One Pot Cook Set (A1246): - A1246: 1L, 259 g, 3 pieces (pot + cup + spork) - A1229 (this): 2.2L, 296.7 g, 1 piece (pot) - A1229 is lighter than A1246 for ~2x capacity! - A1229 is for couples; A1246 is for solo

Position in STS Lineup
Largest Frontier UL pot (2.2L for couples) with patent-pending LidKeep
Hand-Wash Only (Per FAQ) — Anodization Protection
Per STS FAQ: "No - the base and lid are anodized aluminum; the caustic cleanser used in dishwashers will damage the anodization." Same as all Frontier pots — hand-wash only: - Mild dish soap - Soft cloth - Don't use caustic cleaners - Air dry fully before storing - The LidKeep silicone clip + Click Safe handle hardware are also delicate
DO NOT FRY (Per FAQ)
Per STS FAQ: "The collapsible pot is not suitable for frying or sautéing." Why: - Frying temperatures (oil) can damage the pot - Sautéing also typically requires more heat - Anodized aluminum + silicone = temperature limits - Stick to water-based cooking What you CAN cook: - Boil water for freeze-dried meals - Pasta, rice, couscous - Soups, stews - Tea, coffee, hot drinks - Rehydrate dried foods - Simmering - Frying in oil - Sautéing - Searing meat
Patent-Pending LidKeep Care
The LidKeep silicone clip is a key innovation:Care: - Wipe the LidKeep with a damp cloth after each use - Don't pull hard on the clip (stretches the silicone) - Avoid storing the lid with the clip twisted - The clip is part of the lid (no separate part to replace) Use: - After cooking, snap the lid on - Flip the LidKeep tab to clip to the pot rim - The lid hangs on the side of the pot (free hand) - When done, unclip and put the lid back on - = Innovation for outdoor kitchen use
"Passage Tableware" Cross-Reference
Per STS FAQ: "Passage tableware is dishwasher safe." This is now the 3rd time the FAQ has mentioned "Passage": - Kettle Cook Set FAQ - 5-Piece Cook Set FAQ - This Pouring Pot FAQ Pattern across the line: - Frontier = ultralight, premium, ceramic non-stick (where applicable), NOT dishwasher safe - Passage = different line, IS dishwasher safe Implications: - Passage is probably a heavier + more durable tableware line - For users who prioritize convenience (dishwasher safe) over ultralight - STS caters to different priorities across the two lines
Avoid These Failure Modes
Don't: - Run in a dishwasher (per FAQ — damages anodization) - Use on induction stoves (per FAQ) - Fry or sauté in oil (per FAQ — damages pot) - Use caustic cleaners (degrades surfaces) - Use steel wool (scratches anodized layer) - Cut inside the pot (silicone damage) - Heat empty (no water/food = damage risk) - Leave water standing for days (staining) - Use near open flame (melts silicone) - Drag across rough surfaces - Force the Click Safe handle - Stress the LidKeep silicone clip (stretches over time)
Sustainability & End-of-Life
Material considerations: - Aluminum base + lid: highly recyclable - 304 stainless steel handle: highly recyclable - Silicone sidewalls: harder to recycle (specialty facilities) - LidKeep silicone: integrated with the lid Longevity factors: - Hard-anodized aluminum: durable for decades - 304 stainless steel: very durable - EU food-grade silicone: 20+ years - LidKeep clip: should last the life of the lid At end-of-life: - Aluminum + stainless: recyclable as scrap metal - Silicone: landfill mostly - Mixed materials = harder to recycle Compare to the Detour Pouring Pot (A1211, built earlier): - Detour: stainless steel + silicone (heavier, more durable) - Frontier: aluminum + silicone (lighter, less durable) - Trade-off weight vs durability
Activity-Specific Tips
- Couples backpacking: Primary use. 2.2L is the biggest pot in the Frontier line. - Bikepacking pairs: Compresses to 10 × 8 × 2 in fits tandem cargo cage. - Packrafting couples: 2.2L nests in larger packraft hatches. - Multi-day expeditions: 5,000-cycle durability (same as Frontier family). - Big meals: 2.2L = full 2-person dinner. - Pouring: Wide rim doubles as pour spout. - Most important: NEVER put in dishwasher. Hand-wash ONLY. Don't fry.
