Frontier Ultralight Collapsible Dinnerware Set - 6 Piece
Frontier Ultralight Collapsible Dinnerware Set
6-Piece Ultralight Set (2 Medium Bowls + 2 Large Bowls + 2 Cups) · 13.9 oz Total · Glass-Reinforced Nylon · Serves 2

Designed to nest/stack together for really compact packing, this complete set of tableware for two expands to make the most of mealtimes. Collapsible, nesting Frontier dinnerware takes up hardly any space in your pack — yet expands to full function bowls and cups when needed. Two Large Bowls, two Medium Bowls and two Cups give you plenty of options at mealtimes. Sea to Summit pioneered collapsible camp kitchen gear, and this is its latest evolution. Each bowl has a rim so you can hold it securely and a curve between the base and sidewalls that matches Sea to Summit spoons. The Cup has a central ring in addition to the upper rim to make it easier to grip. High quality, EU food grade materials can be relied on to go with you — mile after mile, meal after meal.

Couples-Optimized
2 Large + 2 Medium Bowls + 2 Cups = complete setup for two diners.
14 oz Total
394 g set weight — lighter than a deck of cards for full couple setup.

Set Contents (6 Pieces)
Same DNA as the 3-Piece (Built Earlier)
The 6-piece and 3-piece share the same construction + materials: Material split: - 63% Glass Reinforced Nylon + 37% Silicone (consistent across all 3 piece types) Base/rim: Glass-reinforced nylon 66 (with 30% glass) - Rigid for shape holding + grip - Lightweight Sidewalls: EU food-grade silicone - Collapsible + flexible - Heat-resistant - BPA/PFOA/PTFE free Cup rings: Glass-reinforced nylon - Maintain cup shape - Shield fingertips from hot drinks What changed from 3-piece to 6-piece: - Doubled all pieces (2 each instead of 1 each) - Same single-variant packaging - Slightly thicker pack (4 cm vs 1 cm packed)
Bundle Savings Math
Set price: $109.95 Individual value: $123.70 (per STS) Savings: $13.75 (~11% bundle discount) Cost breakdown estimate (if bought separately): - 2× Medium Bowl: ~$15-20 each = ~$30-40 - 2× Large Bowl: ~$17-22 each = ~$34-44 - 2× Cup: ~$10-15 each = ~$20-30 - Total: ~$84-114 (STS estimating at $123.70) Compare to similar products: - 3-piece solo set: $54.95 (about half the price) - Detour 6-piece set: $149.95 (more expensive but real stainless) Why buy the 6-piece: - Bundle saves ~$14 vs solo purchases - Couples camping / 2-person hiking - Complete coverage (each diner has own bowl + cup) - Mix-and-match sizes (some share, some don't) Why buy the 3-piece instead: - Solo camping (one Medium Bowl + one Cup enough) - Smaller pack footprint (1 cm deep vs 2 cm) - $55 cheaper
Same Frontier Material Properties (Built Earlier)
The 6-piece has the same material properties as the 3-piece: Glass-filled nylon 66: - Industrial-grade nylon - 30% glass = structural rigidity + lightweight - Heat-resistant - Used in aerospace + outdoor gear EU food-grade silicone: - High regulatory standard for food contact - Heat-resistant up to 230°C+ - No PFAS / BPA / harmful plasticizers - Lasts decades with care 5,000-cycle durability test (per FAQ): - Each piece extends + collapses 5,000 times in testing - = ~13+ years of daily use Spoon-matched curve (STS system-wide): - Base-to-wall radius matches Sea to Summit spoons - Easier cleanup - Less food waste
NOT Microwave Safe (Same Frontier FAQ)
Per STS FAQ: "Are Frontier bowls / cups microwave safe? No — please see the general FAQ section of our website." Why not microwave (frontier-wide restriction): - Silicone + nylon 66 not microwave-tolerant long term - Microwave heating degrades the materials - Just say no to microwaving Frontier dinnerware Practical heating: - Use the Frontier 2L Pouring Pot on a stove - Reheat by pouring into the bowl - Cold-soak meals (just add boiling water)
Award-Worthy + Best for Couples + 1
The 6-piece is positioned for couples / 2-person camping: Why this set for two: - 2 of each piece = no sharing - Both bowls = each diner can have 1 Large + 1 Medium (soup + main) - 2 cups = hot drink for each Designed for: - Couples backpacking - Bikepacking with partner - Two-person packrafting - Split cooking/dining duties

Microwave Warning (Per FAQ — Same as 3-Piece)
Per STS FAQ: "Are Frontier cups and bowls dishwasher safe? Yes — Frontier tableware can be washed in a dishwasher." Microwave (separate FAQ): "Are Frontier bowls / cups microwave safe? Frontier tableware should not be used in a microwave — please see the general FAQ section of our website." Why not microwave (frontier-wide): - Silicone + nylon 66 are not microwave-tolerant long term - Microwave heating degrades materials - Even briefly, repeated microwave cycles damage the polymer structure Practical reheating in camp: - Use the Frontier 2L Pouring Pot on a stove - Pour into the bowl for serving - Cold-soak meals work great (just add boiling water to bowls)
Dishwasher Use (Per FAQ)
Per STS FAQ: "Yes — Frontier tableware can be washed in a dishwasher" Top-rack recommendations: - Glass-filled nylon 66 + silicone are dishwasher-safe - Top rack minimizes direct heat exposure - Standard detergent works - Avoid abrasive detergents Hand-wash alternative: - Mild soap + water - Quick field cleaning - Better for spot cleaning Cleaning between trips: - Pre-rinse to remove food residue - Mild soap if needed - Allow silicone to dry fully before packing (24+ hours) - Damaged silicone + trapped moisture = mildew
Durability Notes (Per FAQ)
Per STS FAQ: "Are the collapsible bowls / cups fragile? No! The base and rim are made of really strong glass-reinforced nylon; bowls are tested on a rig that extends and collapses each item 5,000 times." 5,000 cycles = decades of use: - Daily use round-trip = 1 cycle/day - 5,000 ÷ 365 = 13.7 years of daily use - Trips of 3-5 days = even longer service life Stress points: - Glass-filled nylon rim: rigid but can chip from sharp impact - Silicone sidewall: flexible, can be cut (avoid knife contact) - Cup nylon rings: secure, can crack from extreme cold drops Why the test matters: - Customers who cook for 2 daily = real-world stress - Test = 13+ years of normal use - Confirms the design is durable for long-term backpacking
Nesting + Transport Tips
All 6 pieces collapse flat and nest together for compact transport: Nesting order (per STS): - Larger pieces go on the bottom - Smaller pieces stack on top - Like Russian nesting dolls - 6 pieces fit in 7 × 7 × 2 in cube Transport protection: - Wrap in clothing or a buff for extra cushion - Or use the inner pocket of your backpack - Avoid direct compression by heavy gear (silicone can flatten) Setup at camp: 1. Remove from pack 2. Pop each bowl/cup open (audible click when secure) 3. Set the cup in the silicone center (for hot drinks) 4. Use rim to grip bowl when eating Breakdown: 1. Let dry fully first (don't store damp) 2. Collapse each piece flat (one at a time) 3. Stack them inside each other 4. Store in the pack pocket
Avoid These Failure Modes
Don't: - Microwave the dinnerware (per FAQ) - Use harsh chemicals or bleach (degrades materials) - Cut on the rim with a sharp knife (can chip glass-filled nylon) - Over-stress the central ring (causes cracks) - Leave exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods - Use near flame or extreme heat (melts silicone) - Drag across rough surfaces - Store compressed long-term with damp trapped inside Staining: - Tomato, wine, turmeric can stain silicone - Wash immediately after staining - Use baking soda paste for stubborn stains - Staining doesn't affect function
Sustainability & End-of-Life
No specific sustainability claims: - Not labeled as recycled material - Not Bluesign APPROVED (unlike Detour) - Standard food-grade materials Longevity factors: - 5,000-cycle test = verified durability - Glass-filled nylon and food-grade silicone last decades - Replace only when damaged beyond use Compare to Detour line: - Detour: mostly stainless → more recyclable - Frontier: nylon + silicone → less recyclable - Detour is the more sustainable choice but heavier At end-of-life: - Specialty textile recyclers for nylon - Most end in landfill - Nylon + silicone are slow to break down
Activity-Specific Tips
- Couples backpacking: Primary use. 14 oz total = minimal overhead. Each person has their own bowl + cup. - Bikepacking pairs: Fits in tandem cargo cages or frame bags. 2 diners' worth of dinnerware. - Packrafting couples: Nest in Frontier 2L Pouring Pot for transport. - Long-distance 2-person trips: Use 5,000-cycle durability for years of use. - Cold-weather camping: Glass-filled nylon + silicone tolerate sub-freezing better than cheap plastic. - Hot drinks: The Cup's central ring shields fingers — verify before every use though. - NOT for: Microwave heating (per FAQ). Solo camping (overkill, use 3-piece). Family camping (3+ diners need more pieces). Heavy car camping (use Detour for premium feel and weight doesn't matter).
