Folding Bucket
Folding Bucket
10L Folding Water Carrier · 200D Recycled Nylon · Welded Seams · Base Handle + Volume Markers · Leave No Trace

Light and packable water transport for camp or trail. With a generous 10L design, the Folding Bucket makes it easy to collect, carry, and pour water back at camp. A base handle and volume markers simplify use, while welded seams and lightweight, recycled fabric keep it watertight and quick-drying. Folds into a compact pouch when empty. Made from bluesign APPROVED, certified recycled, non-PFAS materials to adhere to Leave No Trace Seven Principles.

10L Capacity
Generous 10L volume — enough to wash dishes, collect water, or rinse gear.
Watertight Seams
Welded seams (not stitched) — no water seepage through needle holes.
Base Handle
Sturdy handle at the bottom — scoops water from shallow sources + precise pouring.
Volume Markers
Printed marks on the side — measure water without a separate container.
Folds Flat
Folds into a compact zippered pouch (4 × 4 × 2 in) — fits any pack.
Leave No Trace
Carry water out for washing — protects streams and waterways.
Welded Seams (NEW TECH IN STS LINE)
The Folding Bucket uses welded seams — not stitched: What "welded" means: - High-frequency (HF) or radio-frequency (RF) welding - Heat + pressure bonds the fabric together at seam level - Creates a single-piece seam (vs stitching that creates needle holes) - No stitching threads, no needle holes, no water seepage Why welded over stitched: - Stitched seams have small needle holes - Need additional sealing (taped seams) to be waterproof - Welded seams are inherently waterproof (no holes to seal) - More durable (no thread to wear out) Practical: - 100% watertight seams (just like a hydration reservoir) - No risk of seam failure over time - Bonded at the molecular level
Base Handle + Volume Markers (NEW IN STS LINE)
Two unique functional features: Base Handle (NEW for STS): - A handle integrated into the BOTTOM of the bucket - Allows scooping from shallow water without bending over - Acts as a pour spout when lifted - Distributes the bucket's weight when carrying Volume Markers (NEW for STS): - Printed measurement marks on the bucket side - Typically in 1L increments - Measure water carry capacity - Useful for filtering water or measuring dishwater Combined use: - Scoop water with base handle - Lift and pour using the base handle as pivot - Read volume markers to know how much you collected - No need for separate measuring tools
200D Waterproof Fabric (Recycled)
The body uses 200D recycled nylon with waterproof coating: 200D = midweight: - 200 denier per fiber - Heavier than Ultra-Sil (30D) or Lightweight Compression (70D) - Lighter than HD products (420D+) - Middle-ground for durability Why 200D for this product: - Bucket holds heavy water loads - Reinforced seams + sturdy fabric = holds shape when filled - The bucket is a "tool" not a "pack" - Some tear resistance is important (rocks, branches)
Zippered Storage Pouch
Per STS: "Includes a zippered storage pouch for compact, clean, and easy transport when not in use." The pouch: - Separate from the bucket - Zips closed - Sized to fit the folded bucket (4 × 4 × 2 in) - Keeps the bucket clean during transport - Doubles as a small gear pouch if used separately

Repair with Gear Aid Seam Grip + WP (Per FAQ)
Per STS FAQ: "The bucket is made from very durable fabric, and if a pinhole puncture occurs, it can be repaired using Gear Aid Seam Grip + WP." Step-by-step repair: 1. Locate the leak: - Inflate/inflated buckets: pump up air + listen - Filled with water: look for drips on paper towel - Submerged in soapy water: look for bubbles 2. Clean the area: - Alcohol wipe (or soap + water) - Let dry fully - Rough-up the area slightly with sandpaper (in repair kit) 3. Apply the patch: - Cut a small patch from the Gear Aid WP sheet - Round the corners (peeling prevention) - Peel backing, apply patch over the hole - Press firmly for 30+ seconds 4. Cure: - Allow 24 hours before using the bucket with water - Warm conditions speed curing 5. Test: - Fill with water, check for leaks - Repeat if necessary What "WP" means in "Seam Grip + WP": - WP = WaterProof - Specifically for waterproof fabrics - Bonds well to coated nylons (200D) - Different from standard Seam Grip (for non-waterproof uses)
Leave No Trace Use (NEW SECTION)
Per STS: "Makes adhering to Leave No Trace Seven Principles simple and easy." How this bucket helps LNT compliance: - Carry water 200+ feet from water sources for washing - Most LNT guidelines recommend this distance - Standard dish soap is harmful to aquatic life - Even biodegradable soap should be carried away Wash station setup: 1. Find a durable surface (rock, packed dirt) 2. Set up the Folding Bucket on stable ground 3. Fill with water from the closest source 4. Wash dishes 200+ feet from the source 5. Dispose of grey water in a cathole (or pack out if bear country) 6. Strain food scraps from grey water (pack out) Why this matters for backpackers: - Avoid contaminating pristine wilderness water sources - Stay compliant with campsite regulations (many require wash stations) - Avoid the "no-trace challenge" of just using a pot to wash
Cleaning
Routine cleaning: - Dump leftover water (per LNT, not back into streams) - Mild soap + water - Soft cloth or sponge (avoid abrasives) - Air dry fully before folding/storing - Fold and store in the included zippered pouch Avoid: - Harsh detergents or bleach - Machine washing or drying - Abrasive scrubbing - Storing wet (mildew + stains) - Direct sunlight long-term (degrades fabric) Drying tips: - Hang open to dry - Wipe dry with cloth - Sunlight okay for occasional UV (kills bacteria) - Long-term UV = fabric degradation
Don't Submerge or Leave Wet in Sun
Avoid: - Submerging the bucket while attached to your pack (water weighs it down) - Leaving in direct sunlight for weeks (UV degrades 200D nylon) - Storing wet in the pouch (mildew) - Overloading beyond 10L (seam stress) 200D nylon: - More durable than 70D or 30D - Less durable than 420D - Holds shape with water weight - Tolerates hot water (washing dishes) Welded seams: - HF/RF welds are durable - Don't put in the dryer (heat can melt seams) - Don't apply flame near the seams (melts) - Don't use solvents on seams (degrades weld)
Avoid These Failure Modes
Don't: - Use harsh chemicals or bleach (degrades bonded seams) - Machine wash or dry (welds + zipper can fail) - Leave in direct sunlight for extended periods (UV degradation) - Store wet in the pouch (mildew + odor) - Drag the bucket across rough surfaces (cover tears) - Overload beyond 10L (seam stress) - Use as a flotation device (not designed for this) - Pierce with sharp objects (manufactured with care) Most common failure points: - Pinhole leaks from sharp contact (repairable with Seam Grip + WP) - Zipper failure on the pouch (replace the pouch, not the bucket) - Wear at the base handle stress points (handle still works, just looks worn)
Sustainability & End-of-Life
Sustainable features: - Recycled 200D nylon body - Bluesign APPROVED - Non-PFAS - Welded seams (more durable than stitched = longer life) - Leave No Trace compliance Longevity: - 5-10+ years with proper care - Welded seams = no thread failure - Bucket proper ages well - Storage pouch ages fastest (regular zipper wear) At end-of-life: - Nylon can be specialty-recycled - Most end up in landfill (small item) - Consider donating if still functional - Few materials = easier disposal than complex products LNT impact: - This product exists to enable Leave No Trace practice - Carry water out, wash away from sources, pack out grey water - The product's purpose is environmental protection
Activity-Specific Tips
- Car camping: Quick water transport for dishwashing, gear cleaning, kids' play water. - Paddle sports (canoe/kayak/packraft): Per STS, ideal for water transport at camp. Freestanding design + base handle = perfect. - Overlanding: Per FAQ, "the better choice" for overlanding water transport. Reliable + sturdy. - Hunt & Fish base camp: Game cleaning + water for cooking + gear rinse. - Thru-hiking: Carry water to dry camps (avoid stream contamination). LNT compliance. - Family camping: Kids' play water bucket. Gear wash station. - Indoor: Garden watering, pet water dish. - Emergency: Water transport during water outages. - NOT for: Submerging in water (welds hold but not rated for it). Hot liquids above 60°C (welds soften). Long-term storage full of water (mildew + seam stress). - Best practice per LNT: Use 200+ feet from any water source.
