Air Seat Insulated
Air Seat Insulated
Inflatable Cushion · Stadium · Cold Weather · THERMOLITE®

So packable you won't notice the addition to your bag, but so useful you'll never leave home without it. Using the same technology as our award-winning Air Sprung Cell Sleeping Mats, the Air Seat Insulated is the perfect way to add a little comfort AND warmth to whatever you're sitting on — whether it's the ground, stadium, festival seat, bleachers, frozen bench, or any cold hard surface. THERMOLITE® insulation adds critical warmth without significant weight penalty, making it ideal for cold-weather stadiums, winter camping, and shoulder-season outdoor events.

Insulated Warmth
THERMOLITE HL-1 insulation adds warmth for cold bleachers, frozen stadium seats, winter camping.
Toast-Sized Pack
Packs to 4 × 2 × 4 in (slightly thicker than standard Air Seat due to insulation) — still fits in jacket pockets.
Light Insulation Penalty
Only 0.3 oz heavier than the standard Air Seat (2.8 oz vs 2.5 oz) for the added warmth.
Air Sprung Cell Comfort
Same Air Sprung Cell technology as STS's award-winning sleeping mats — soft, supportive air pockets.
Fast Inflation
Multi-function low-profile mini-valve — 2-3 breaths to inflate, deflates in seconds.
Durable Construction
75D Polyester face fabric handles regular sitting use — built for hard surfaces and repeated inflation cycles.
THERMOLITE HL-1 Insulation (NEW — KEY DIFFERENTIATOR)
The Air Seat Insulated's defining feature is THERMOLITE HL-1 insulation layered inside the Air Sprung Cell cushion. THERMOLITE® is a synthetic insulation made by Invista (the same company behind COOLMAX® and LYCRA®). The HL-1 designation is a specific grade — typically the lightweight end of the THERMOLITE family, optimized for low-bulk warmth where weight matters. For the Air Seat, this means critical warmth for cold bleachers and frozen stadium seats without adding significant weight or pack size.
Air Sprung Cell Technology
Same Air Sprung Cell construction as the standard Air Seat — a matrix of small, interconnected air pockets (rather than a single large air chamber) gives a softer, more cushioned feel than a flat air bladder. The THERMOLITE insulation sits between the air cells and the seat surface, capturing radiant body heat and reflecting cold from the ground.
75D Polyester Face Fabric
The seat surface is made from tough and durable 75D Polyester — heavier than the Airlite Towel's microfibre but appropriate for a load-bearing seat cushion. 75D handles regular sitting use without abrasion or wear, and resists punctures from rough surfaces (concrete bleachers, rocky ground, frozen wood benches).
Multi-Function Low-Profile Mini-Valve
STS's multi-function low-profile mini-valve (same family used in the Traveller pillows and standard Air Seat) — a one-way intake that opens on the inhale, with a wide-deflation port for fast pack-down. Low profile means the valve doesn't dig into your thigh or buttock when seated.
Self-Storage Zippered Pouch
The Air Seat Insulated packs into its own zippered pouch — the pouch is part of the cushion itself, not a separate stuff sack. When inflated, the pouch zips shut around the cushion to keep it compact during use (or doubles as a small storage bag). When deflated, the cushion folds into the pouch for transport.
Use Cases
Cold-Weather Primary Use
The Air Seat Insulated is designed for situations where the standard Air Seat's cushion isn't enough — when you also need warmth: - Winter stadium events (football, soccer, hockey games on cold bleachers) - Cold-weather festivals (autumn/winter outdoor concerts, markets) - Winter camping (sitting on snow, frozen ground, cold logs around a campfire) - Shoulder-season outdoor events (graduations, weddings, parks in fall/early spring) - Frosty bleachers at ski events (where metal seats conduct cold directly to your body) - Hunting (sitting in a cold tree stand or ground blind) - Ice fishing (sitting on frozen surfaces for hours) - Backcountry ski touring (breaks and rest stops on cold snow)
Comparison to Standard Air Seat
Add Warmth, Add Only 0.3 oz
Compared to the standard Air Seat ($42.95), the Insulated version adds THERMOLITE® HL-1 insulation for $7 more ($49.95) and 0.3 oz more weight (2.8 oz vs 2.5 oz). The trade-off: 0.3 oz and a slightly thicker pack (4×2×4 vs 4×1×4) for the warmth. For year-round stadium use or cold-weather-only use, the Insulated version is the better choice. For summer-only or warm-climate use, the standard Air Seat is sufficient.

Cleaning
Wipe clean with a damp cloth and mild soap if needed. For tougher dirt, rinse with water and a soft brush. The 75D polyester face fabric can handle more aggressive cleaning than the Airlite Towel's microfibre. Be careful not to soak the THERMOLITE insulation — water can be hard to fully remove from synthetic insulation. Air dry completely before long-term storage. Do not machine wash or tumble dry — can damage the Air Sprung Cell construction, THERMOLITE insulation, and the multi-function valve.
Drying
Air dry only. After any cleaning or exposure to moisture, fully deflate the Air Seat Insulated and hang or lay flat in a well-ventilated area. Ensure the THERMOLITE insulation is completely dry before long-term storage — any retained moisture will reduce insulation loft and warmth. Do not tumble dry or expose to direct high heat — can damage the TPU bladder inside the cushion, the Air Sprung Cell welds, and the THERMOLITE insulation.
Inflation & Deflation
To inflate: open the multi-function low-profile mini-valve, blow into the port (one-way intake flap lets air in without escaping), 2-3 breaths fills the cushion. To deflate: flip the valve cap to the deflation position — the wide port vents air rapidly. Always close the valve fully before use to prevent slow leak drift. Tip: For cold-weather use, inflate the cushion just before you sit down (not before leaving the car) — the air inside will warm to your body temperature once you're sitting on it, providing better insulation.
Valve Care
Keep the multi-function mini-valve free of debris — small particles can prevent the one-way flap from sealing properly, causing slow deflation during use. In cold/wet conditions (snow, ice), ice crystals can form in the valve — wipe the valve clean before opening/closing. If the valve sticks or doesn't hold air, check for debris and rinse with clean water. Do not use lubricants — they attract dirt and gum up the sealing surfaces.
Air Sprung Cell Care
The Air Sprung Cell construction is a matrix of small, interconnected air pockets. To preserve the welds between cells: avoid over-inflation (the cushion should feel firm but not rock-hard), don't sit on sharp objects, and inspect periodically for signs of cell separation. If individual cells fail, the cushion will develop soft spots but can still be used (just less comfortable).
75D Polyester Care
The 75D polyester face fabric is durable enough for regular sitting use but not indestructible. Avoid contact with sharp objects (broken bleachers, sharp rocks, exposed screws on chairs) that can puncture or tear the fabric. For small punctures: clean the area, apply a TPU/polyester repair patch (STS repair kit or generic), and allow to cure for 12–24 hours before use.
THERMOLITE HL-1 Insulation Care
THERMOLITE HL-1 is a synthetic insulation that requires similar care to other synthetic insulations: - Keep dry — wet insulation loses loft and warmth. If the cushion gets wet, dry it thoroughly before storage. - Avoid prolonged compression — long-term compression can reduce loft over time. Store loosely in the integrated pouch. - Don't use fabric softener when cleaning — coats the synthetic fibres and reduces insulation performance. - Fluff after long storage — if the cushion has been stored compressed for months, inflate and deflate a few times to "exercise" the THERMOLITE insulation and restore full loft.
Storage
Store fully deflated, dry, and loosely folded in the integrated zippered pouch — don't compress tightly. The Air Sprung Cell welds can take a set if stored compressed for months, which may affect cushion feel. The THERMOLITE insulation can lose loft if compressed long-term. For long-term storage, occasionally inflate and reflate the cushion to "exercise" the cells and prevent permanent deformation.
Puncture Repair
The TPU bladder inside can be repaired with a Sea to Summit TPU repair patch (sold separately) or any TPU/polyurethane repair tape. Clean and dry the puncture area, apply the patch, and allow to cure fully (usually 12–24 hours) before re-inflating. Do not use silicone-based sealants on TPU — they won't adhere properly. Deep punctures or seam failures are not repairable and the cushion should be replaced.
Warranty Note
Per a verified buyer review: "Mine popped within the first year of having. STS sent me a replacement free of charge." STS offers a strong warranty on the Air Seat Insulated — if it fails within the warranty period (typically the first year for manufacturing defects), they'll replace it. Keep your proof of purchase.
Travel Tip
The Air Seat Insulated's 2.8 oz weight and slightly thicker 4×2×4 in pack make it a great always-pack cold-weather cushion — keep it in your car for unexpected cold stadium events, your ski jacket for backcountry breaks, or your hunting pack for cold tree-stand sits. Per a verified buyer review: "The best inflatable seat for cold butts." The THERMOLITE insulation adds critical warmth without bulk — perfect for any cold hard seat.
