Aeros Ultralight Traveller Pillow
Aeros Ultralight Traveller Pillow
Travel Pillow · Airplane · Compact

The Aeros Ultralight Traveller Pillow epitomises Sea to Summit's design preferences for "light, compact and comfortable." The result is a 20D laminated polyester pillow with shapely support that can be packed away into a neat, small stuff sack. Built for jet-setters who count every gram in their carry-on, with the same horseshoe ergonomic shape and adjustable neck closure as the Premium Traveller — but lighter fabric, smaller packed volume, and a lower price.

Smaller Pack
Packs to 3 × 2 × 2 in — smaller than the Premium Traveller (4 × 3 × 2). Fits in any carry-on pocket.
Ultralight
2.5 oz / 70 g — same as Premium Traveller but lighter fabric (20D vs 50D polyester).
Ergonomic Support
Bulbous side arms cradle your neck from the sides — significantly more support than traditional horseshoe pillows.
Adjustable Neck Closure
Closure strap supports the entire circumference of your neck — pillow stays in place even when you shift in your seat.
Fast Inflation
Low-profile multi-function mini-valve — inflates in a couple of breaths, deflates in seconds.
Abrasion-Resistant
Laminated with high-strength TPU for abrasion resistance — handles backpack straps, zippers, and rough luggage.
Ergonomic Bulbous Side Arms
Like the Premium Traveller, the Ultralight has bulbous side arms (enlarged ends) that cradle the sides of your neck with significantly more support than traditional horseshoe pillows. The shape mimics how you'd support your neck with your hands if you were sitting upright and falling asleep.
Extra-Thin Centre
The middle of the pillow is intentionally extra-thin — when you lean back into a headrest, the centre compresses flat against your neck rather than pushing it forward. Reduces the "neck strain" feeling common with traditional U-shaped travel pillows.
20D Laminated Polyester
The outer fabric is 20D laminated polyester — significantly lighter than the Premium Traveller's 50D polyester. The trade-off: thinner fabric means less abrasion resistance over years of heavy use, but the TPU lamination adds protection. For the occasional traveler, the weight savings matter more than the long-term durability difference.
RF-Welded Construction
The seams are radio-frequency (RF) welded — a manufacturing technique that uses high-frequency electromagnetic waves to fuse the TPU-laminated fabric together. RF welding produces airtight, high-strength seams without thread or glue, eliminating the two most common failure points in inflatable products. The result is a more durable and lighter pillow than stitched construction.
Abrasion-Resistant High-Strength TPU
The TPU lamination on the 20D polyester is formulated for abrasion resistance — the same TPU used in technical packs. Protects the pillow from backpack straps, zippers, and rough luggage walls during travel. Without the TPU lamination, 20D polyester would be too fragile for travel use.
Low-Profile Multi-Function Mini-Valve
Sea to Summit's low-profile multi-function mini-valve — same as the Premium Traveller. One-way intake on the inhale, with a wide-deflation port for fast pack-down. The low profile is critical for travel — the valve won't press into your neck when you lean back into a headrest.
Packability
Smaller Pack Than Premium Traveller
The Ultralight Traveller deflates and folds flat into the included stuff sack — final packed size is roughly 3 × 2 × 2 in (smaller than the Premium Traveller's 4 × 3 × 2). Significantly more compact for carry-on bags, laptop bags, and tight packing situations.
Comparison to Premium Traveller
Lighter Fabric, Lower Price
Compared to the Aeros Premium Traveller ($49.95), the Ultralight Traveller ($44.95) uses lighter fabric (20D vs 50D), packs smaller (3×2×2 vs 4×3×2), and costs $5 less. The trade-off: 20D is less durable than 50D over years of heavy use. For the occasional traveler or backpacker: the Ultralight is the better choice. For frequent fliers or business travelers: the Premium's thicker fabric holds up better to daily use.
Colors
Two Color Options
Available in two colors: Grey (neutral) and Aqua Sea (light blue). Color choice is purely aesthetic — performance and features are identical across both colors.

Cleaning
Hand wash only — not machine-washable. Close the valve before cleaning, use warm water with a gentle kneading motion (don't scrub aggressively — can damage the RF-welded seams), then let it air dry. Do not use a dryer — heat damages the TPU lamination and can warp the welded seams. For surface stains on the 20D laminated polyester, a small amount of technical wash (like Nikwax Tech Wash) is preferable to regular soap.
Drying
Air dry only. After any cleaning or exposure to moisture, fully deflate the pillow and hang or lay flat in a well-ventilated area. Ensure the 20D laminated polyester is completely dry before long-term storage. Do not tumble dry or expose to direct high heat.
Inflation & Deflation
To inflate: open the low-profile multi-function mini-valve, blow into the port (one-way intake flap lets air in without escaping), a couple of breaths fills the pillow. To deflate: flip the valve cap to the deflation position — the wide port vents air rapidly. Always close the valve fully before use. Tip for travelers: inflate the pillow just before boarding rather than at the gate — most airline ambient noise drowns out the brief inflation sound, and you arrive with a perfectly firm pillow instead of a deflating one.
Valve Care
Keep the multi-function mini-valve free of debris — small particles can prevent the one-way flap from sealing properly, causing slow deflation overnight (or worse, mid-flight). If the valve sticks or doesn't hold air, check for debris and rinse with clean water. Do not use lubricants — they attract dirt and gum up the sealing surfaces.
RF-Welded Seam Care
Radio-frequency welded seams are extremely strong but can be damaged by sharp objects or by repeatedly folding the pillow at the same seam location. To extend seam life: vary the fold lines when packing, don't crease the pillow sharply, and inspect periodically for signs of seam separation. RF-welded seams cannot be re-welded at home; for seam failures, contact Sea to Summit warranty service.
20D Laminated Polyester Care
The 20D laminated polyester is lighter and more fragile than the Premium Traveller's 50D fabric. Avoid contact with sharp objects (zippers, jewelry, seat-belt buckles) that can snag and tear the fabric. If the casing develops a small snag, trim with sharp scissors rather than pulling the thread (pulling makes the snag larger). Avoid Velcro (hooks catch and tear the polyester weave).
Adjustable Neck Closure Care
The adjustable neck closure strap is the part most likely to wear over time. The closure typically uses hook-and-loop (Velcro) or a buckle — both are durable but can degrade with heavy use. To extend life: keep the closure clean (no crumbs, sweat, sunscreen residue), don't over-tighten (stresses the strap material), and store loose (not tightened flat).
Long-Term Storage
Store fully deflated, dry, and loosely packed inside the included stuff sack — don't compress tightly. The TPU bladder can take a set if stored compressed for months, which may affect its ability to hold air. Avoid leaving inflated for extended periods (weeks) — the bladder material is designed for short-term inflation during travel, not for permanent pillow use.
Puncture Repair
The TPU bladder can be repaired with a Sea to Summit TPU repair patch (sold separately) or any TPU/polyurethane repair tape. Clean and dry the puncture area, apply the patch, and allow to cure fully (usually 12–24 hours) before re-inflating. Do not use silicone-based sealants on TPU — they won't adhere properly. Deep punctures or seam failures are not repairable and the pillow should be replaced.
Travel Tip
The Aeros Ultralight Traveller is the smallest travel pillow in the Aeros family — at 3 × 2 × 2 in packed, it fits in any carry-on bag's outer pocket, laptop bag, or daypack lid. For long-haul flights, inflate the pillow partway (about 60%) before boarding — you'll want to fine-tune firmness once you're in your seat, and partial pre-inflation reduces the number of breaths needed in a quiet cabin.
