Aeros Premium Pillow
Aeros Premium Pillow
Sleep System · Memory Foam · Adjustable Comfort

Engineered for lightweight luxury, the Aeros Premium features a top layer of memory foam and brushed stretch knit fabric over an adjustable air chamber, providing breathable, customisable support up to 12cm thick. Its ergonomic scalloped shape cradles your head, fits inside sleeping bag hoods, and supports all sleep positions. PillowLock System patches secure the pillow firmly in place on your mat. Built with durable hydrolysis-resistant TPU and certified recycled fabrics, the Aeros Premium is the perfect upgrade for adventurers and campers seeking lightweight comfort.

Memory Foam Comfort
5 mm memory foam layer beneath the contact surface gives a luxurious, moulded-to-your-head feel that air-only pillows can't match.
Adjustable Firmness
Air chamber beneath the foam lets you tune the firmness to your preference — soft and squishy or firm and supportive.
Ergonomic Shape
Concave surface with scalloped edge centres around your shoulders — cradles your head for all sleep positions (back, side, stomach).
Anti-Slip
3M™ PillowLock System patches lock the pillow to your sleeping mat — standard since 2019 on all STS pillows.
Eco-Certified
Made with RCS-certified recycled nylon + polyester — third-party verified recycled content, not self-declared.
Hood-Compatible
Regular size fits perfectly inside the hood of technical sleeping bags — premium for cold-weather camping and mountaineering.
Memory Foam Top Layer
A 5 mm layer of memory foam sits beneath the contact surface — engineered for luxurious next-to-head comfort. Memory foam moulds to your head shape with body heat and gentle pressure, then recovers when you move. Unlike solid foam pillows, the foam here is layered over an air chamber, so you can still tune the underlying firmness.
Brushed Stretch-Knit Top Fabric
The upper pillow surface is a soft, brushed 3D knit recycled polyester with mechanical stretch — engineered for enhanced airflow over previous Aeros versions. Stretches gently when you press your head into the memory foam rather than resisting, which improves comfort on side-sleeping pressure points.
Ergonomic Scalloped Shape
The pillow has a concave (curved-in) surface with a scalloped edge that centres around your shoulders. The shape is designed to mimic the cradle of a home pillow while keeping the pillow footprint small for packing. The scalloped edge means your head naturally settles in the centre and the pillow's shape holds it there through the night.
Hydrolysis-Resistant TPU Air Chamber
The internal air chamber is built from TPU polyether laminate — engineered to resist hydrolysis (chemical breakdown of TPU when exposed to humidity over time). Standard TPU bladders become brittle and crack after 2–3 years in storage; the polyether laminate resists this and is built for years of use.
Mini XPRESS Valve
Sea to Summit's ultralight inflation valve — one-way intake that opens on the inhale (no air escaping back out) and a wide-deflation port for fast pack-down. Small profile keeps weight down and won't dig into your neck when inflated.
Adjustable Firmness Up to 12cm
Firmness is controlled by how much air you add or release. Inflate fully for a firm pillow; partial for a softer, more yielding feel. Fine-tune with small adjustments to dial in your preference. The pillow holds inflation overnight with minimal drift if the valve is closed properly.
3M™ PillowLock System
Included PillowLock System patches are adhesive silicone dots that stick to the bottom of the pillow and the surface of most camping sleeping mats. Once applied, the patches grip the mat and prevent the pillow from sliding off during sleep. Since 2019, all Sea to Summit pillows use the PillowLock System — patches are reusable: peel, wash, reapply. Compatible with most nylon, polyester, and synthetic sleeping mat surfaces. Not compatible with waterproofed or silicone-treated mat surfaces.
Sleeping Bag Compatibility (NEW)
Regular Size Fits Inside Sleeping Bag Hoods
The Regular-sized Aeros Premium fits perfectly inside the hood of technical sleeping bags — a feature highlighted in the FAQ. Larger sizes (Large, XL) may not fit into the hood but can still be used for support and comfort while camping. Hood-compatibility matters most for cold-weather camping, mountaineering, and bikepacking where you want pillow support inside a mummy-style bag.
Midweight Class (vs Down's Ultralight)
Sea to Summit's "Weight" performance scale rates this pillow as Midweight — heavier than the Aeros Down Pillow (Ultralight) but still compact. The added weight comes from the memory foam layer (5mm foam is denser than down). For ultralight thru-hikers, the Down version is the lighter choice. For car campers and comfort-prioritizing backpackers, the Premium's extra weight is worth the comfort upgrade.
Midsize Packability (vs Down's Ultra Compact)
Sea to Summit's "Packability" scale rates this pillow as Midsize — larger when packed than the Aeros Down Pillow (Ultra Compact). The Regular deflates to roughly 4 × 3 × 3 in (about the size of a deck of cards) — fits in pack lids, external pouches, or strapped to a pack. The memory foam adds volume compared to the Down version.
Colors
Four Color Options
Available in four colors: Picante (red/orange), Mediterranea (blue), Burnt Olive (olive green), Cabbage (green) — adds visual variety vs. the Aeros Down Pillow which comes only in Neutral Grey. Color choice doesn't affect performance or features; it's purely aesthetic.
Regular / Large / XL
Three sizes to match different body types and sleep styles. Regular (13 × 9 × 4") is the most packable and the only size that fits inside a sleeping bag hood. Large (17 × 12 × 5") adds surface area for restless sleepers. XL (22 × 14 × 5") is the largest — for side sleepers who need extra width or anyone who wants full pillow coverage.

Cleaning (per Sea to Summit FAQ)
Hand wash only — not machine washable. Close the valve before cleaning, use warm water with a gentle kneading motion (don't scrub aggressively, can damage the TPU seams and disturb the memory foam), and allow to air dry completely. Do not use a dryer — heat can damage the TPU air chamber, warp the welded seams, and degrade the memory foam layer. For surface stains on the 3D knit fabric, a small amount of technical wash (like Nikwax Tech Wash) is preferable to regular soap.
Drying
Air dry only. After any cleaning or exposure to moisture, fully deflate the pillow and hang or lay flat in a well-ventilated area. Ensure the memory foam and 3D knit fabric are completely dry before long-term storage — retained moisture in the foam creates mildew risk. Do not tumble dry or expose to direct high heat.
Inflation & Deflation
To inflate: open the mini XPRESS valve, blow into the port (one-way intake flap lets air in without escaping), 3–4 breaths fills a Regular-sized pillow. To deflate: flip the valve cap to the deflation position — the wide port vents air rapidly. Always close the valve fully before use to prevent slow leak drift. Pro tip from Sea to Summit: turn the Airstream Pump from your Sea to Summit sleeping mat inside-out and use it to inflate the pillow — eliminates breath-moisture buildup inside the air chamber (which can degrade TPU over years of use).
Valve Care
Keep the mini XPRESS valve free of sand, dust, and debris — small particles can prevent the one-way silicone flap from sealing properly, causing slow deflation overnight. If the valve sticks or doesn't hold air, check for debris and rinse with clean water. Do not use lubricants on the valve mechanism — they can attract dirt and gum up the sealing surfaces.
Air Chamber Pressure
The TPU air chamber is designed for breath or pump inflation — do not use compressed air or over-pressurize. Over-inflation stresses the welded seams. You'll feel when the chamber is full — firm but not hard. If the chamber feels tight or looks stretched, release some air until it yields slightly under hand pressure.
Hydrolysis Resistance (NEW — IMPORTANT)
Standard TPU air bladders can break down via hydrolysis — a chemical reaction with humidity that makes the TPU become brittle and crack over time, often after 2–3 years in storage. This pillow's TPU polyether laminate is hydrolysis-resistant, meaning the chamber maintains flexibility and air-tightness for years longer than standard TPU. To preserve this: store deflated and dry, don't leave inflated for weeks on end, and avoid prolonged exposure to direct heat.
Memory Foam Care
The 5mm memory foam layer is a permanent part of the pillow — it cannot be removed or washed separately. If the foam becomes damp (condensation, humidity), fully deflate and air dry in sunlight or a warm, dry space. Memory foam retains body heat to soften — that's how it's designed. Avoid prolonged compression (don't store the pillow compressed for months) which can flatten the foam's cell structure and reduce its moulding ability.
3M™ PillowLock Patches
The PillowLock patches are reusable silicone adhesive dots. To maintain grip: peel the patches off the mat and pillow bottom, rinse with clean water, air dry, and reapply. Adhesive performance diminishes over time as the silicone surface picks up dust and oils — replacement patches are available from Sea to Summit or 3M. Apply patches to a clean, dry pillow bottom for best adhesion.
3D Knit Fabric Care
The brushed 3D knit recycled polyester face fabric is soft against the skin and engineered for enhanced airflow. It can pill over time with heavy use (small fiber balls form on the surface) — a fabric shaver can remove pilling without damaging the knit. Avoid contact with Velcro (the hooks can catch and tear the knit) — keep separate from packs and clothing with Velcro closures.
Long-Term Storage
Store fully deflated in a loose shape inside the included stuff sack — do not compress tightly. The TPU chamber can take a set if stored compressed, which may affect its ability to hold air. The memory foam can also lose its moulding ability with prolonged compression. A loose mesh sack or pillowcase is ideal. Before first use after long storage, always test inflation and check for slow leak by inflating and leaving overnight.
Puncture Repair
The TPU air chamber can be repaired with a Sea to Summit TPU repair patch (sold separately) or any TPU/polyurethane repair tape. Clean and dry the puncture area, apply the patch, and allow to cure fully (usually 12–24 hours) before re-inflating. Do not use silicone-based sealants on TPU — they won't adhere properly. Deep punctures or seam failures are not repairable and the pillow should be replaced.
Travel Tip
The Regular size deflates to roughly 4 × 3 × 3" (about the size of a deck of cards) and weighs 3.5 oz / 99g — fits inside a daypack, hipbelt pouch, or strapped to a pack handle. For travel, the Premium upgrades any hotel room or hostel — the memory foam layer feels closer to a home pillow than air-only camp pillows.
