Wash Less — Spot Clean First

850 fill power down is precious — wash only when truly necessary (heavy sweat, food spills, persistent odors). Spot clean small dirt and stains with a damp cloth and mild soap for everyday maintenance.

Machine Wash Cold (Front Loader)

If washing is needed, use a front-loading machine on a gentle/cold cycle with a technical down wash (like Nikwax Down Wash) — top-loaders with agitators can damage the 20D shell and baffles.

Tumble Dry Low with Tennis Balls

Tumble dry on low heat with 2-3 clean tennis balls or dryer balls — they break up down clumps and restore 850 fill power loft. Multiple cycles may be needed; damp down clumps and loses insulation.

Re-Proof DWR Periodically

The Pertex® Quantum Diamond Fuse shell's DWR finish fades with use — re-apply a PFC-free spray-on DWR treatment (like Nikwax TX Direct) every 30-50 days of use to maintain shell water beading.

Store Uncompressed in a Large Bag

Store the hoodie hanging or in a large breathable bag — avoid long-term compression in the stuff-sack pocket, which damages 850 fill down loft and reduces long-term warmth. Stuff-sack is for transport, not storage.

Do Not Bleach, Iron, or Dry Clean

Avoid chlorine bleach (degrades Pertex® shell and DWR), hot irons (melts synthetic fibers and damages down), and dry-cleaning solvents (strips down's natural oils and DWR finish).
