Cleaning
Wipe the upper with a damp cloth and mild soap to remove dirt and trail grime. Clean the outsole with a brush to remove caked-on mud. Avoid machine washing, which can damage the ReactX foam, the ATC outsole, and the GORE-TEX membrane. Air dry at room temperature.
Drying
Air dry at room temperature after cleaning or exposure to rain. Stuff with newspaper or paper towels to absorb moisture and maintain the shoe's shape. Avoid machine drying or placing near a radiator, as excessive heat can damage the ReactX foam, the ATC outsole compound, and delaminate the GORE-TEX bootie.
GORE-TEX + DWR Care
The GORE-TEX membrane and its DWR (durable water-repellent) treatment will wear off over time and with trail use. Refresh the DWR periodically with a spray-on re-proofing product designed for technical footwear to maintain water beading on the surface. A well-maintained DWR keeps the GORE-TEX working at peak performance — if water stops beading on the surface and starts soaking into the outer mesh, the DWR needs refreshing.
Outsole Care
Inspect the ATC outsole regularly for wear or embedded debris. Remove any rocks or sticks stuck in the tread to prevent damage to the lugs. The ATC rubber is highly durable, but trail running on rough terrain can accelerate wear. If the lugs become worn down, consider replacing the shoes to maintain traction.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Use the original box or a shoe bag to protect the uppers. Avoid stacking heavy items on top of the shoes, which can compress the ReactX cushioning over time. If storing long-term, stuff with paper to help them retain their shape.
