Makalu Mountaineering Boot

Traditional design meets advanced technology in the Makalu. This classic leather mountaineering boot features the La Sportiva MPEvo outsole to ensure stability and traction in rugged environments. We used a burly 3.0 mm Idro-Perwanger® Roughout leather upper for classic mountain boot performance and fit. This is a full steel shank boot that will accept an automatic crampon and kick steps in snow all day without a crampon if needed. Additionally, the protective Vibram® rubber rand adds excellent toe protection and the EZ rollerball hardware makes these boots easy to lace up.

Cleaning
Brush off dirt, mud, and salt with a stiff bristle brush after each outing. Wipe the 3 mm Idro-Perwanger® roughout leather upper and Vibram® rubber rand with lukewarm water and mild soap; rinse and towel dry. Remove the EZ Flex™ tongue for separate cleaning.
Conditioning
Periodically treat the roughout leather with a wax- or oil-based conditioner designed for full-grain mountaineering boots. This maintains water repellency and prevents the leather from drying out and cracking under heavy pack loads.
Drying
Air dry at room temperature away from direct heat or radiators. Loosen all laces fully and remove the EZ Flex™ tongue and 8 mm MtnFlex insole to allow airflow through the Dry-Best® lining.
EZ Rollerball Hardware
Wipe the EZ rollerball hardware with a dry cloth after wet outings. Lubricate sparingly with a dry lubricant if lacing becomes stiff.
Resoling
The La Sportiva MPEvo outsole and Vibram® rubber rand are both resoleable, extending the life of the boot well beyond the original tread.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Loosen all laces and lightly stuff with paper to hold shape and absorb residual moisture.

Outdoor Gear and apparel orders (helmets, jerseys, gloves, etc.) ship within 5-21 business days. Please reach out to us with the most up to date deliveries times as they vary per Manufacturer. 

Returns & Exchanges:

If you received the wrong size or wish to exchange an item, it must be returned in original condition—unused, uninstalled, and with all packaging intact.
