La Sportiva HyperEZ Climbing Shoes

Keep your feet comfortable in these La Sportiva climbing shoes. They need no painful break-in period. The last design and low asymmetry allow for generous volume. The midsoles have EVA cushioning.

No Painful Break-In Period
Designed for comfort out of the box — no extended break-in required before the shoes perform as intended, making them approachable for new climbers and convenient for gym regulars who don't want to spend weeks softening stiff leather.
Low Asymmetry, Generous Volume Last
Last design with low asymmetry and generous volume accommodates a wider range of foot shapes than aggressive downturn climbing shoes — comfortable for all-day gym sessions and multi-pitch routes where feet swell.
EVA Cushioned Midsole
EVA midsole cushioning absorbs impact and provides underfoot sensitivity on edges and smears — the cushioning is a hallmark of entry-to-intermediate climbing shoes and reduces foot fatigue on long sessions.
Beginner-to-Intermediate Climbing
Comfortable, low-aggression profile suited to beginner and intermediate climbers — appropriate for gym bouldering, top-roping, and sport climbing where footwork fundamentals are still being developed.
Velcro Strap Closure
Velcro strap closure allows quick on/off between burns — essential for gym sessions where you take shoes off between attempts and want fast re-entry without re-tying laces.
Yellow/Black Colorway
Yellow/Black colorway with high visibility — the bright yellow accents make the shoe easy to spot in a gear bag or locker.
REI Co-op Exclusive Colorway
Yellow/Black colorway carried at REI — part of La Sportiva's accessible price-point climbing shoe range positioned for newer climbers and value-focused gym regulars.
Unisex Sizing 38–43.5 EU
Runs in unisex EU 38 through 43.5 including half sizes — a wide size range that accommodates most adult climbers.
All-Day Comfort Profile
Comfort-oriented geometry and modest downturn make these shoes appropriate for all-day wear during climbing trips, gym sessions, and instruction where shoes stay on for hours.

Cleaning the Upper
Wipe the upper with a damp cloth to remove dirt and chalk after each session. Avoid soaking the shoes in water — even comfortable climbing shoes can degrade with repeated water exposure.
Drying
Air dry at room temperature away from direct heat sources. Stuff with newspaper to absorb moisture and maintain shape — replace the paper after a few hours for faster drying. Direct heat damages both adhesives and EVA midsole rebound.
Storage Between Sessions
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. A breathable mesh bag or locker with ventilation prevents odor buildup without trapping moisture.
Velcro Strap Care
Periodically clean the velcro hook side with a small brush or tape to remove lint and chalk that reduce grip. Replace velcro straps when they lose hook engagement — most shoe repair shops can swap straps inexpensively.
EVA Midsole Note
The EVA midsole cushioning softens slightly with use — this is normal wear and part of how the shoe breaks in (or doesn't, in this case). When the midsole feels packed out and loses sensitivity, it's time to replace the shoes or take them to a cobbler for midsole refresh.
Resoling Considerations
Entry-level climbing shoes like this are sometimes built as single-shot construction — check with a La Sportiva-approved cobbler before assuming the rand is resolable. Many La Sportiva shoes are resolable, but verify on this specific model.
