Route Men's Helmet

It's the best-kept secret in the helmet game. With integrated headlamp clips, a BOA® fit system, and tons of ventilation, you've got everything you need for dawn patrols, night laps, and full days in between — the Route is built to disappear on your head while doing the work of a much burlier lid.

BOA® Fit System
The BOA® dial delivers precise, on-the-fly micro-adjustments with the twist of a wheel — even with gloves on. The most trusted fit dial in action sports, tuned for all-day comfort and zero hot spots.
Integrated Headlamp Clips
Built-in clips on the front and back hold a headlamp strap in place for pre-dawn skin-ups, night skiing, or pulling double duty as a climbing helmet — no aftermarket accessories needed.
Heavy-Duty Active Matrix + Passive Ventilation
User-regulated Active Matrix vents work with integrated passive channels to dump heat on the climb or close down for storm laps. More vents than most — built for high-output riding.
Waterproof Breathable Cover
A removable waterproof breathable cover adds protection against the elements of winter weather — pull it on for wet storm days or sub-freezing dawn patrols, stash it in your pocket when the sun comes out.
Convertible Ear Pads
Removable ear pads for reduced bulk when the mercury rises or for spring park laps, retaining the full fit system for dialed comfort all year.
Cycling Certified
Certified for cycling by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the European Cycling Standard — one lid for ski season, bike park, and shoulder-season transition days.

Liner Cleaning
Remove the ear pads and neck roll and hand-wash the liner with mild soap and warm water. Air dry completely before reinstalling — trapped moisture causes odor and breaks down the EPS foam over time.
Shell Cleaning
Wipe the outer shell with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid solvents, petroleum-based cleaners, and aerosol sprays — they degrade the polycarbonate shell and can attack any integrated tech layer.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. UV and trunk heat degrade the shell glue and EPS over a season or two. A helmet bag protects the finish.
Replacement
Replace the helmet after any significant impact — even impacts that don't show visible damage can compress the EPS. Most manufacturers, K2 included, recommend replacement after 3-5 years of regular use even without a crash.
