Despite its compact profile, the design provides ample real estate throughout the handle and cutting edge, making it just as effective on big game as it is on smaller species. Improvements to the jimping location and overall ergonomics ensure the last cut feels just as effortless and controlled as the first — a critical detail during long field-dressing sessions where hand fatigue and grip slip are real concerns. At 2.81 ounces with a slim 0.55" handle profile, the Hidden Canyon Hunter rides light on the belt while still delivering the full-grip confidence needed for sustained precision work. Wipe the blade and handle with a soft, damp cloth after each use — especially after field dressing, where blood and tissue residue should be cleaned promptly to prevent corrosion and staining. For deeper cleaning, rinse under warm water with mild soap and dry thoroughly. Avoid prolonged moisture exposure, particularly on the handle scales.
Sheath Care
The leather sheath is a critical part of the Hidden Canyon Hunter system. Treat it periodically with a leather conditioner (such as mink oil, leather balm, or beeswax-based product) to keep the leather supple and weather-resistant. Avoid soaking the sheath in water; if it gets wet, let it dry slowly at room temperature away from direct heat. Stiff or dried-out sheaths can dull the blade edge over time.
Sharpening
The Hidden Canyon Hunter is covered by Benchmade's LifeSharp program: free lifetime professional sharpening, cleaning, oiling, and re-calibration. Send it in or visit any authorized Benchmade dealer. For field maintenance, use quality diamond or ceramic stones at the manufacturer's recommended angle — the compact precision blade sharpens easily with standard guided systems.
Storage
Store the Hidden Canyon Hunter clean and dry, ideally in its leather sheath for protection. Avoid storing in damp environments (basements, unheated tents, vehicle trunks) for long periods — moisture trapped against the blade can cause corrosion. Periodically oil the blade lightly with a rust-inhibiting oil or food-safe mineral oil for long-term storage.

Returns & Exchanges:

If you received the wrong size or wish to exchange an item, it must be returned in original condition—unused, uninstalled, and with all packaging intact.
