When to Use
Use the Field Sharpener for real edge restoration — knives that have dulled beyond what a touch-up hone can fix, tools that need a fresh edge in the field, or any blade that needs more than a daily touch-up. For knives that just need a quick refresh after a day's use, a lighter touch-up tool may be sufficient; for full factory tune-ups, send the knife in for Benchmade's LifeSharp service. The Field Sharpener fills the middle ground — comprehensive sharpening between the two.
How to Use
Start with the coarser abrasive step for repairing rolled or damaged edges, working through progressively finer steps to refine the edge. Place the blade against each surface at the guided 20° angle and draw it across with light, even pressure — pulling the blade from heel to tip, alternating sides. Five to ten passes per side per step is typically enough; let the abrasive do the work and avoid excessive pressure. Work through all five steps in sequence for a complete sharpening from repair to polish.
Sharpening Tools Beyond Knives
The Field Sharpener's specialized surfaces handle more than knives — fish hook slots sharpen hooks back to a working point, serrated blade slots hone the scalloped edges that flat stones can't reach, and saw blade surfaces touch up the teeth on folding and fixed saws. The complete field tool for keeping all your sharp edges sharp.
Cleaning the Tool
Wipe all abrasive surfaces with a soft, dry cloth after use to remove accumulated metal particles. For stubborn buildup, use a soft brush (a toothbrush works well) with mild soap and water, then dry thoroughly. Avoid soaking any part of the tool or getting it wet for extended periods.
Storage
Store the Field Sharpener in a dry environment away from extreme temperatures. The compact size makes it easy to keep with the knives and tools it maintains — pocket, pack, drawer, workbench, or vehicle glove box. Some users keep it stored in the included packaging for protection during transport.

Bicycles:

Complete bikes typically ship within 2–3 weeks due to build, tuning, and inspection times. You will receive tracking information as soon as your order is ready to ship.

Riding Gear & Apparel:

Riding gear and apparel orders (helmets, jerseys, gloves, etc.) ship within 3-10 business days.

Returns & Exchanges:

If you received the wrong size or wish to exchange an item, it must be returned in original condition—unused, uninstalled, and with all packaging intact.
