The spear-point blade profile balances tip strength with belly for versatile cutting tasks — boxes, cordage, food prep, fire-side work, and general utility — while the slim 0.39" handle profile keeps the Dacian among the most pocket-friendly fixed blades in the Benchmade lineup. Micarta handle scales with lateral grooves running the length of the grip provide extreme comfort in multiple grip positions — forward grip for detail work, hammer grip for striking, or choked back for delicate cuts. Cleaning
Wipe the blade and handle with a soft, dry cloth after each use. For deeper cleaning, use mild soap and water, then dry thoroughly. The lateral groove pattern can trap debris — use a soft brush to clean out the recessed areas. Avoid prolonged moisture exposure, particularly on the handle scales.
Sheath Care
The leather scout-carry sheath needs occasional conditioning with a leather conditioner (such as mink oil, leather balm, or beeswax-based product) to keep the leather supple and weather-resistant. Avoid soaking the sheath in water; if it gets wet, let it dry slowly at room temperature away from direct heat. The synthetic retention insert inside the sheath doesn't require conditioning — periodically inspect it for wear and clean with a damp cloth if needed.
Sharpening
The Dacian is covered by Benchmade's LifeSharp program: free lifetime professional sharpening, cleaning, oiling, and re-calibration. Send or visit any authorized Benchmade dealer. For home maintenance, use quality diamond or ceramic stones at the manufacturer's recommended angle; the spear-point blade sharpens easily with standard guided systems thanks to the symmetric geometry.
Storage
Store the Dacian clean and dry in its sheath for protection. After use in wet or humid conditions, rinse with fresh water, dry thoroughly, and lightly oil the blade before storage. Avoid storing in damp environments (basements, unheated sheds, vehicle trunks) for long periods — moisture trapped against the blade can cause corrosion.
