BCA Tracker™ 4 Avalanche Beacon

The Tracker 4 is our most advanced avalanche beacon, featuring an ergonomic, bombproof case, and large display for workhorses tough on their gear. The Tracker 4 offers Signal Suppression (SS) and Big Picture (BP) modes for no-nonsense multiple-victim searching, plus motion-sensing auto revert-to-transmit mode (AR). Includes a Mini USB port for downloadable software updates.

Auto Revert mode
Auto revert returns the beacon to transmit after a period in search mode, adding protection during rescue operations.
Big Picture mode
Big Picture mode provides an overview when searching for multiple burial signals.
Close proximity indicator
The close-proximity indicator supports precise final-stage signal searching.
Motion-sensing auto revert
Motion-sensing auto revert manages the return to transmit after searching; follow the manual for timing and operation.
Multiple burial indicator
The display indicates when more than one transmitting beacon is detected.
Mute mode
Mute mode temporarily silences audio while maintaining the visual search display.

Pre-Trip Function Check
At the trailhead, run the self-check and verify transmit and search operation with your group. Inspect the display, controls, harness, and battery level before entering avalanche terrain.
Battery Care
Use three fresh AAA alkaline batteries of the same type and condition, following the polarity markings. Replace all three together and do not substitute rechargeable or lithium cells unless the manufacturer explicitly approves them.
Housing & Electronic Testing
Keep the housing, display, and controls clean and dry, and protect the beacon from impacts. Use the Mini USB connection to keep software current and perform electronic testing as directed.
Storage & Rescue Practice
For extended storage, follow the manual regarding battery removal and inspect for corrosion before reuse. Practice companion rescue regularly; a beacon is effective only when paired with training, a probe, a shovel, and sound terrain decisions.
