Washing
Hand wash the Vigor Grid Fleece Beanie in cold water with a mild technical fabric wash (like Nikwax Tech Wash or Grangers Performance Wash). Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners, which can damage the ActiveTemp™ treatment, the DWR finish, and the grid fleece fibers. Gently squeeze out excess water (don't wring or twist) and allow to air dry at room temperature.
Drying
Lay flat to dry or hang to air dry. The grid fleece dries relatively quickly thanks to the moisture-wicking properties. Avoid high heat (radiator, hair dryer, dryer), which can damage the ActiveTemp™ treatment, the DWR finish, and the grid fleece fibers. Don't wring or twist the beanie, which can stretch the fabric and deform the shape.
DWR Refresh
The DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish will wear off over time with use and washing. When water stops beading on the fabric surface (the fabric "wets out" and water soaks in), refresh the DWR with a spray-on product (like Nikwax TX.Direct Spray-On). Apply per the product instructions and air dry. This is especially important for the Vigor Beanie since it's often worn in snowy or wet conditions where head warmth and water resistance are both important.
ActiveTemp™ Treatment Reapplication
The ActiveTemp™ thermoregulating treatment is bonded to the fabric fibers and designed to last through the life of the garment with normal use and care. The treatment does not need to be reapplied like a surface spray. If you notice the thermoregulating properties are reduced (e.g., the fabric feels hot when active or doesn't manage temperature as well), the treatment may be reaching the end of its effective life. Avoid using fabric softeners, which can coat the ActiveTemp™ treatment and reduce its effectiveness.
Storage
Store the Vigor Beanie in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid leaving the beanie in direct sunlight for extended periods — UV exposure can degrade the ActiveTemp™ treatment and the DWR finish over time. Don't store in a hot car — extreme heat can damage the treatment and the grid fleece fibers. The beanie can be stored flat or loosely folded.
Repair
Small holes or tears in the grid fleece can be repaired with a patch (like Tenacious Tape) or by an outdoor gear repair service. For ActiveTemp™ treatment issues or seam problems, contact Outdoor Research for warranty service — the Infinite Guarantee® covers defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the product.
