Men's Alta Vista Jacket
Waterproof Hiking Shell · Trail / Travel / Daily

Made with 100% recycled fabrics, the Men's Alta Vista Jacket is built to quickly become the go-to hiking shell. A water-repellent finish pairs with technical features like an adjustable hood, pit-zip venting, and the ability to stow in a secure-zip pocket — everything needed to take trail exploration to the next level. The 9.2 oz weight is light enough to live in a pack full-time, the DRYVENT 2.5L membrane handles a full day of backcountry rain, and the recycled construction closes the material loop from the start of the supply chain.

Regular Fit
Regular fit through the body with enough room for a baselayer or a light fleece underneath, but cut close enough to seal in warmth without unnecessary bulk. The fit layers cleanly under a shell for cold-storm days and works on its own for a fall squall. Sized to be a true technical shell — a layer to throw on, not a jacket to size up into.
DRYVENT™ 2.5L Waterproof Shell
Waterproof, breathable, seam-sealed DRYVENT 2.5L shell with a non-PFC DWR finish helps keep you dry — the 2.5-layer construction pairs a waterproof membrane with a printed half-layer on the inside that protects the membrane and wicks sweat off the skin. Lighter and more packable than a 3-layer shell, and tougher than a 2-layer build. The seam-sealing closes the stitch holes where rain would otherwise sneak through.
100% Recycled Construction
Body fabric and body lining made with 100% recycled nylon. Hood and hem-tunnel lining made with 100% recycled polyester. Pocket lining made with 100% recycled polyester mesh. Every layer of the jacket is built from post-consumer plastic that would otherwise be in a landfill. The recycled content doesn't compromise wind resistance, durability, or weight — it just keeps the material loop closed from the start.
Three-Piece Adjustable Hood
Attached, adjustable, three-piece hood with a cinch-cord and cord locks — the three-piece construction follows the shape of the head for a snug, vision-friendly fit, and the dual-cinch system pulls the opening tight for a cold-wind seal or loose for a relaxed drape. The hood sits cleanly on the shoulders when worn down and lays flat when pushed back. Compatible with a low-profile helmet or a beanie underneath.
Water-Repellent Center Front Zip
Exposed, water-repellent center front zip with a zipper garage at the upper neck — the water-repellent zip is the spec'd detail that prevents the front closure from becoming the leak point in a heavy rain. The zipper garage at the upper neck is a small fabric flap that tucks the slider away from the chin, protecting the face from the cold metal on a windy day. The zip runs smoothly with gloves on and the slider is sized to operate one-handed for fast venting.
Stows in Chest Pocket
Stows in the vertical, secure-zip chest pocket — the whole shell packs down into the chest pocket, which doubles as a stuff sack. The chest pocket location keeps the packed jacket centered on the body when worn, and a clip-in loop on the inside of the pocket lets the packed jacket attach to a carabiner or a pack strap. The packed size is small enough to fit in a backpack lid, a climbing harness, or a bike saddle bag.
Exposed-Zip Hand Pockets
Exposed-zip hand pockets warm the hands and stash a phone, a beanie, or a pair of liner gloves. The exposed zippers keep the pocket closure simple and quick, and the pocket openings are deep enough to keep the contents from falling out on a walk. Sized to ride a pack hip belt without interference, with mesh lining for breathability on a long approach.
Internal Drop-In Pocket
Internal drop-in pocket behind the hand pocket — the hidden stash pocket that sits behind one of the hand pockets, sized for a phone, a map, a small notebook, or a pair of gloves. The drop-in design means the pocket lies flat against the body when not in use, so it doesn't add bulk to the silhouette. A small detail that adds a secure storage option without adding visible hardware.
Pit-Zip Venting
Pit-zip venting under the arms — two-way zippers run from the chest to the cuff that open up the underarm for instant cooling on a hard climb. The pit zips dump heat fast without removing the shell, which is what makes a 2.5L layer work for high-output activities in cool rain. When the rain stops, the pit zips close and the shell is sealed again.
Hook-and-Loop Cuff Tabs
Adjustable hook-and-loop cuff tabs seal out rain and wind at the wrists and lock in the warmth the baselayers are producing. The hook-and-loop is wide enough to tune the cuff opening over a glove or a watch, and the tabs are sized to be operated one-handed with gloves on. A small detail that keeps water from running down the arm when reaching overhead.
Internal Cinch-Cord Hem
Internal elastic cinch-cord with a cord lock at the hem for adjustability — the hem cinches tight to seal out wind from below, and the cord lock sits inside the hem channel so it doesn't flap around as exposed hardware. The two-handed reach into the hem cinches the fit, which is faster than fishing for a separate hem cord.
Printed Lining
Printed lining on the inside of the shell — the printed half-layer that protects the DRYVENT membrane and wicks sweat off the skin. The print is what makes a 2.5L construction work: it adds a soft, dry-feeling surface next to the skin without the bulk of a fully-lined 3L shell. The print also adds visual texture to the interior, which is a small detail that makes the shell feel less like a technical piece and more like a layer.
Heat-Transfer Logo Placement
Heat transfer logo on the left chest and back-right shoulder — the lightweight, low-bulk branding that doesn't add a sewn-on patch or a heavy print. The heat-transfer process bonds the logo to the shell, so it moves with the jacket instead of sitting on top of it. Subtle enough to disappear against a pack, visible enough to read the brand mark in daylight.

Sustainability

Recycled Content
Body, lining, hood, and pocket lining all use recycled materials
Finish
Non-PFC DWR (no perfluorinated chemicals)
Machine Wash
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild technical wash or a wash-in DWR-restoring cleaner. Close all zippers and secure the hood cinch-cord and the hook-and-loop cuff tabs before washing. Wash with similar technical fabrics to avoid pilling from rougher materials. Cold water preserves the DRYVENT membrane, the DWR finish, and the recycled nylon fibers.
Tumble Dry Low
Tumble dry on low heat for 20-30 minutes to reactivate the DWR finish. The mild heat and the tumbling action help the durable water-repellent coating redistribute across the face fabric, restoring the beading that makes water roll off the shell. High heat will delaminate the 2.5L construction, melt the DRYVENT membrane, and ruin the jacket.
Do Not Bleach or Iron
Do not use chlorine bleach, fabric softener, or iron. Bleach breaks down the recycled nylon fibers, the DRYVENT membrane, and the heat-transfer logos. Fabric softener coats the membrane and the face fabric with a film that blocks the breathability of the shell and degrades the DWR finish. Ironing directly on the shell will melt the membrane and the printed half-layer on the inside.
Restore DWR
When the shell starts to absorb water instead of repelling it (called "wetting out"), re-treat with a spray-on or wash-in DWR designed for technical outerwear. The DRYVENT membrane is still waterproof — the DWR is what makes the face fabric shed water rather than saturating. A short tumble dry on low is the fastest way to reactivate the existing DWR; a spray-on DWR is the next step when the original wears out.
Storage
Store hanging on a wide wooden or padded hanger in a cool, dry place. Avoid leaving the jacket compressed in a stuff sack for extended periods — the 2.5L construction is more sensitive to long-term compression than a 3L shell, and the membrane can delaminate if stored tightly packed for months at a time. The stows-in-pocket design is for travel, not long-term storage.
Patch Small Tears
Patch small tears or punctures in the 70D ripstop shell promptly with a self-adhesive repair patch or a small dab of seam sealer on the inside. Small tears grow into large tears when the membrane starts to peel away from the face fabric. A patched 2.5L shell performs as well as a non-torn shell, but a torn shell that isn't patched loses waterproofing steadily.
