Sky Pilot Snowboard

Designed in collaboration with Olympic gold medalist Sage Kotsenburg, the Sky Pilot is built for pillowy, forested, technical terrain where you want to pivot and release the tail freely to ride the natural contours ahead. A slightly-wider than normal footprint pairs with K2's 3D Contour in the tip and tail — a "spoon" lift that pulls the contact points up off the snow for the pivotability Sage was after in deeper conditions. The new Carbon Y-Beam adds snap and stability in the tail while sending energy to the nose contact points for edge pressure without torsional rigidity. Sized using VolumeShift™ (downsize 3–5cm from usual length), with scaled flex profiles and waist widths for all-gender fit from 148 to 163.

Carbon Y-Beam
A new K2 carbon structure that adds snap and stability in the tail while routing energy directly to the contact points in the nose. The result is locked-in edge pressure and quick response without the torsional rigidity that makes a board feel locked into one carve path.
3D Contour Tip & Tail
K2's "spoon" 3D shaping lifts the contact points in the nose and tail up off the snow. The lifted tip improves glide and float in deep snow while the lifted tail releases cleanly for pivoting turns through trees and technical terrain.
VolumeShift™ Sizing
Surface area is shifted from the tip and tail to the waist of the board, reducing swing weight and toe/heel drag. Riders can downsize 3–5cm from their usual snowboard length without losing effective edge or float.
S1 Core
A smooth-flexing core construction tuned for a damp, responsive feel underfoot. Aspen and bamboo at 30° angles underfoot add strength, edge-to-edge response, and improved pressure distribution along the edge.
Directional Combination Camber
A blend of camber zones for power and edge hold with rocker sections for a forgiving feel. Directional in outline and profile, with the rocker placement and shape designed for the pivot-and-release feel Sage Kotsenburg asked for.
Triax Fiberglass
A glass laminate with diagonal layers that adds torsional stiffness for edge-to-edge response and the locked-in feel needed to drive through technical, variable snow.
Sage Kotsenburg Pro Model
Co-developed with Olympic gold medalist Sage Kotsenburg. The Sky Pilot's geometry, flex, and shaping were tuned through multiple prototype rounds to nail the "pillowy, forested, technical terrain" riding style.

Waxing
Wax every few riding days or any time the base looks dry, white, or slow. The wax-infused 4001 base absorbs wax quickly — hot wax preferred for full saturation, rub-on for quick field top-ups. The 3D Contour base edges should be scraped evenly to avoid catching.
Edge Tuning
Sharpen edges with a file or stone when they feel dull, after hitting rocks, or at the start of each season. The 3D Contour lift in the nose and tail naturally reduces catch — detune the contact points only slightly if you want even less hook.
Storage
Store the board in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep it in a board bag or sleeve to protect the topsheet, base, and 3D Contour edges from damage during transport.
Repairs
Wipe the base clean after each use and dry before storing. Repair base scratches and core shots promptly to prevent water damage. The 3D Contour edges can be repaired with base weld candles but require more care than a flat base — larger damage should go to a qualified tech.
Sizing & Binding Mounting
VolumeShift design means riders can downsize 3–5cm from their usual length without losing effective edge contact — useful for smaller riders or anyone wanting a more maneuverable pivot feel. The 2 x 4 insert pattern with 0.75" setback supports a slightly tail-set stance for the directional, pivot-release ride Sage Kotsenburg designed it for.
