Wayback 92 Men's Skis 2027

Taking your first steps into the backcountry — or looking for a touring setup that doesn't break the bank? The Wayback 92 is your ski. All-Terrain Rocker delivers a gradual tip rise for versatility and a low, short tail rise for control in variable snow. A Snophobic Topsheet sheds snow buildup, and an ultra-light Paulownia core keeps things easy on the skin track. From dawn to dusk, it changes how you ski the mountains.

Paulownia Core
Ultra-light Paulownia wood core keeps the Wayback 92 light on the skin track without sacrificing the downhill performance you need. Paulownia is one of the lightest woods used in ski construction, making it the go-to choice for backcountry touring where every gram matters on the ascent.
All-Terrain Rocker
All-Terrain Rocker profile with a gradual tip rise for versatility in variable snow and a low, short tail rise for control. The rocker profile helps the ski plane through powder and break crust, while the camber underfoot maintains edge hold on hardpack descents.
Snophobic Topsheet
K2's hydrophobic Snophobic Topsheet repels snow and water to keep the ski light on the skin track. Snow won't stick and accumulate during the climb — the surface sheds precipitation naturally so you're not carrying extra weight on the way up.
92mm Waist Width
The 92mm waist is the narrowest in the Wayback touring line — built for efficient ascents and quick edge-to-edge on the descent. Narrow enough to be a solid spring snow and corn ski, wide enough to handle soft conditions when you find them.
Touring-Specific Construction
Built specifically for backcountry use — light on the way up, solid on the way down. The combination of Paulownia core, Snophobic topsheet, and All-Terrain Rocker makes the Wayback 92 a true do-it-all touring ski for first-time backcountry skiers and budget-conscious veterans alike.

After Use
Wipe down the bases with a dry cloth to remove snow and moisture. Pay special attention to the topsheet — despite the Snophobic coating, prolonged moisture contact can still cause damage. Store skis in a cool, dry place with bindings loose or removed.
Base & Edge Maintenance
Wax regularly — every 4-6 days of riding, or whenever the bases look dry or white. Touring skis see more variable snow conditions and benefit from regular waxing. Sharpen edges with a proper edge file or take to a shop — touring edges take abuse from rocks and skin track debris.
Storage
Store skis base-to-base with a layer of wax on the bases to prevent rust and drying. Use ski straps or a ski bag to keep them together. Avoid leaning skis in corners where they can develop a permanent warp. The Paulownia core is light but can be more susceptible to impact damage than heavier woods — handle with care during transport.
Binding Compatibility
The Wayback 92 is designed for touring bindings — pin bindings (Tech), frame bindings, or hybrid bindings (like the Shift). Standard alpine bindings will work for resort-only use but defeat the purpose of the lightweight construction. Have bindings mounted by a certified touring shop that can dial in your forward mount position for efficient skinning.

🔩
Paulownia Core
Ultra-light Paulownia wood core — one of the lightest woods used in ski construction. Keeps the Wayback 92 light on the skin track (every gram matters on the ascent) without sacrificing the downhill performance you need. The trade-off is slightly less durability than heavier hardwoods, so handle with care during transport.
Snophobic Topsheet
K2's hydrophobic Snophobic Topsheet repels snow and water to keep the ski light on the climb. Snow won't stick and accumulate during the skin track — the surface sheds precipitation naturally so you're not carrying extra weight on the way up. Critical feature for backcountry touring where wet snow buildup can add significant grams.
All-Terrain Rocker
"All-Terrain Rocker delivers a gradual tip rise for versatility and a low, short tail rise for control in variable snow." The rocker profile helps the ski plane through powder and break crust, while camber underfoot maintains edge hold on hardpack descents. Built for backcountry versatility — handles spring corn, powder, and variable backcountry conditions.
92mm Waist
The 92mm waist is the narrowest in the Wayback touring line — built for efficient ascents and quick edge-to-edge on the descent. Narrow enough to be a solid spring snow and corn ski, wide enough to handle soft conditions when you find them. The versatile width makes this the go-to touring ski for first-time backcountry skiers.
Touring-Specific Design
Built specifically for backcountry use — light on the way up, solid on the way down. The combination of Paulownia core, Snophobic topsheet, and All-Terrain Rocker makes the Wayback 92 a true do-it-all touring ski. Compatible with all touring binding systems (pin, frame, or hybrid like the Shift).
Skin Compatibility
Pairs with K2 Wayback climbing skins (1 option available at K2) — pre-cut to match the Wayback 92's tip and tail shapes for a perfect fit. Other universal touring skins can be trimmed to fit. The skins attach via tip clip and tail strap — standard touring skin attachment system.
