Sturdy 16mm Aluminum Shaft
"Built out of sturdy aluminum" — the 16mm aluminum shaft is the workhorse of ski poles, strong enough for daily abuse and light enough for all-day skiing. Survives drops, crashes, and the general rough-and-tumble of youth skiing without bending or breaking.
Rubber Grip
Rubber grip is soft, warm, and cushioned for the comfort young skiers need on long days. Stays grippy in cold temps and absorbs shock on hard-snow pole plants better than hard plastic.
Steel Tip
Hardened steel tip bites into hardpack and spring conditions without bending. Standard replacement thread pattern means you can swap tips on the mountain if one gets damaged.
60mm Performance Basket

Store poles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid leaving them in a hot car where temperature swings can damage the grip and basket. A pole bag or wall rack in a climate-controlled space is ideal for long-term storage.
Grip Care
Wipe grips with a damp cloth to remove dirt and salt. Avoid petroleum-based cleaners that can degrade the rubber over time. The rubber grip is durable enough for years of regular use without replacement.
Tip & Basket Maintenance
Inspect steel tips before each season for bends or dulling. Replace the tip if it's lost its point or bent beyond use. Check that the basket is secure and not cracked; replace if the basket no longer grips the shaft firmly.
Replacement Schedule
Kids' poles typically last 2-3 seasons with regular use. The Decoy's sturdy aluminum construction should survive multiple growth spurts — but when the pole becomes too short, it's time to size up rather than continue with a too-short pole that compromises technique.
