"Thermo-regulating ActiveTemp™ that adapts as your pace shifts" — ActiveTemp™ is OR's proprietary thermoregulating treatment that adjusts to the rider's body temperature and activity level. When the rider is working hard, ActiveTemp™ allows excess heat and moisture to escape; when the rider cools down (rest stop, summit, shade), it helps retain warmth. Washing
Machine wash the Trail Mix XT Fleece Cowl Pullover in cold water with a mild technical fabric wash (like Nikwax Tech Wash or Grangers Performance Wash). Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners, which can damage the ActiveTemp™ thermoregulating treatment, the recycled polyester fibers, and the moisture-wicking properties. Close all zippers before washing. Use a gentle cycle and rinse thoroughly.
Drying
Tumble dry the pullover on low heat or hang to air dry. The recycled polyester fleece dries relatively quickly. Avoid high heat, which can damage the fabric fibers and the ActiveTemp™ treatment. If the pullover is heavily soiled or has absorbed a lot of sweat, rinse thoroughly before drying to remove salt and body oils that can damage the fabric over time.
ActiveTemp™ Treatment Reapplication
The ActiveTemp™ thermoregulating treatment is bonded to the fabric fibers and designed to last through the life of the garment with normal use and care. The treatment does not need to be reapplied like a surface DWR coating. If you notice the thermoregulating properties are reduced (e.g., the fabric feels clammy when wet or doesn't dry as quickly), the pullover may need to be replaced. Avoid using fabric softeners, which can coat the ActiveTemp™ treatment and reduce its effectiveness.
Storage
Store the Trail Mix XT in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid leaving the pullover in direct sunlight for extended periods — UV exposure can degrade the ActiveTemp™ treatment and fade the colors over time. Don't store in a hot car — extreme heat can damage the treatment. The pullover can be folded or hung on a wide hanger (avoid thin wire hangers that can stretch the shoulders).
Repair
Small tears or holes in the fleece can be repaired with a patch (like Tenacious Tape) or by an outdoor gear repair service. For cowl neck wear or thumb hole damage, contact Outdoor Research for warranty service — the Infinite Guarantee® covers defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the product.
