Washing
Machine wash the Ferrosi Pant in cold water with a mild technical fabric wash (like Nikwax Tech Wash or Grangers Performance Wash). Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners, which can damage the recycled nylon fibers, the UPF 50+ treatment, and the drawcord adjustments. Close all zippers before washing. Use a gentle cycle and rinse thoroughly.
Drying
Tumble dry the Ferrosi on low heat or hang to air dry. The Ferrosi fabric dries relatively quickly thanks to its lightweight construction. Avoid high heat, which can damage the recycled nylon fibers, the UPF 50+ treatment, and the drawcord adjustments. If the pants are heavily soiled or have absorbed a lot of sweat, rinse thoroughly before drying to remove salt and body oils.
UPF Refresh
The UPF 50+ sun protection is inherent to the fabric weave (the tight knit blocks UV radiation) — it's not a surface treatment that wears off. As long as the fabric maintains its weave integrity, the UPF protection will remain. Avoid harsh detergents that can degrade the fabric and reduce the UPF effectiveness. If the fabric becomes significantly worn, stretched, or thin, the UPF protection will decrease and the pants should be replaced.
Storage
Store the Ferrosi in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid leaving the pants in direct sunlight for extended periods — UV exposure can fade the colors and degrade the UPF 50+ treatment over time. Don't store in a hot car — extreme heat can damage the recycled nylon fibers. The pants can be folded or hung.
Repair
Small tears or holes in the Ferrosi fabric can be repaired with a patch (like Tenacious Tape) or by an outdoor gear repair service. For drawcord replacement, seam issues, or fabric degradation, contact Outdoor Research for warranty service — the Infinite Guarantee® covers defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the product.
