Washing
Machine wash the Deviator Fleece Half Zip in cold water with a mild technical fabric wash (like Nikwax Tech Wash or Grangers Performance Wash). Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners, which can damage the polyester fibers, the VerticalX™ Octa insulation, the bluesign® approved stretch panels, and the UPF treatment. Close the half-zip before washing. Use a gentle cycle and rinse thoroughly.
Drying
Tumble dry the Deviator on low heat or hang to air dry. The hybrid-mapped construction dries relatively quickly thanks to the moisture-wicking properties. Avoid high heat, which can damage the VerticalX™ Octa insulation, the spandex stretch fibers, and the UPF treatment. If the fleece is heavily soiled, rinse thoroughly before drying to remove sweat and body oils.
UPF Treatment Care
The UPF 30 sun protection is inherent to the fabric weave (the tight knit blocks UV radiation) — it's not a surface treatment that wears off. As long as the fabric maintains its weave integrity, the UPF protection will remain. Avoid harsh detergents that can degrade the fabric and reduce the UPF effectiveness. If the fabric becomes significantly worn, stretched, or thin, the UPF protection will decrease and the fleece should be replaced.
Storage
Store the Deviator Fleece Half Zip in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid leaving the fleece in direct sunlight for extended periods — UV exposure can degrade the fabric and fade the colors over time (the UPF treatment protects from UV, but prolonged exposure to the sun will still cause material degradation). Don't store in a hot car — extreme heat can damage the VerticalX™ Octa insulation and the spandex stretch fibers. The fleece can be folded or hung.
Repair
Small tears or holes in the fleece can be repaired with a patch (like Tenacious Tape) or by an outdoor gear repair service. For half-zipper failure or seam issues, contact Outdoor Research for warranty service — the Infinite Guarantee® covers defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the product.
