Cleaning
Spot clean the Heyday Pack with a damp cloth and mild soap for everyday stains. For a deeper clean, hand wash in cold water with a mild technical fabric wash (like Nikwax Tech Wash or Grangers Performance Wash). Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners, which can damage the water-resistant coating and the fabric. Close all zippers before washing. Air dry only — don't machine dry, as the heat can damage the coating and fabric.
Storage
Store the Heyday Pack in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid leaving the pack in direct sunlight for extended periods — UV exposure can degrade the water-resistant coating and fade the colors over time. Don't store in a hot car — extreme heat can damage the fabric and the EVA foam shoulder strap padding. The pack can be stored empty or with minimal contents to maintain its shape.
Hardware Maintenance
Periodically check the zippers, buckles, and other hardware for wear. Lubricate the zippers with a dry lubricant or beeswax if they start to stick. Check the shoulder strap attachment points and the webbing for any signs of fraying or damage. The pack is designed to be durable, but regular inspection helps catch any issues before they become major problems.
Water Resistance Refresh
The DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating on the pack fabric will wear off over time with use and washing. When water stops beading on the fabric surface (the fabric "wets out" and water soaks in), refresh the DWR with a spray-on product (like Nikwax TX.Direct Spray-On). Apply per the product instructions and allow to air dry. This is especially important for the Heyday since it handles work and school gear that shouldn't get wet.
Repair
Small tears or holes in the pack fabric can be repaired with Tenacious Tape or by an outdoor gear repair service. For zipper failure, buckle damage, or strap issues, contact Outdoor Research for warranty service — the Infinite Guarantee® covers defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the product.
