The Insect Shield® Cape Cap is built for sunny, buggy adventures, delivering dependable insect protection and UPF 50+ coverage for hiking, camping, and long days outside. Made with lightweight, breathable, bluesign® approved 100% nylon, it features an Insect Shield® treatment to repel pests and quick-drying performance to keep you cool and comfortable. The detachable, adjustable cape offers flexible neck and ear coverage, while the 2.6" bill adds shade up front. A crown cinch adjustment fine-tunes the fit for security and comfort in changing conditions.

Insect Shield® Bug Repellent Finish

A factory-applied, EPA-registered permethrin treatment bonds to the fabric and repels mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers, and midges through dozens of washes. No re-application needed—protection is built into the fibers for the life of the garment.

Detachable Cape

A fully adjustable cape drapes over the neck and ears for full bug and sun protection on the trail, then detaches when you want a clean, brimmed cap for around-town wear or low-bug conditions.

UPF 50+ Sun Protection

Maximum-rated sun protection shields the face, ears, and neck from harmful UV rays during long days in exposed terrain, eliminating the need for sunscreen on covered skin.

2.6" Brim

A medium-length bill shades the eyes and face without blocking peripheral vision, ideal for hiking, fishing, and watching for wildlife or trail obstacles.

Crown Cinch Adjustment

Cleaning

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild technical-gear or liquid detergent. Do not use bleach, fabric softener, or standard laundry soap, which can degrade the Insect Shield® treatment over time. Tumble dry low or hang to air dry.

Drying

Tumble dry on low heat or hang to air dry. The quick-drying nylon will air dry in minutes. Avoid high heat, which can warp the brim and damage the cape attachment.

Insect Shield® Treatment Longevity

The factory-applied Insect Shield® treatment is bonded to the fabric and is effective for the expected life of the garment through approximately 70 washes. Do not dry clean or use fabric softener, as these can strip the active repellent from the fibers.

Brim Care

The 2.6" bill is reinforced to hold its shape. If it becomes creased or bent in transit, gently reshape it by hand and allow it to recover. Avoid prolonged pressure on the brim (e.g., packing under heavy gear) to prevent permanent deformation.

Storage

Allow the cap to dry fully before storing. Keep flat or loosely folded in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. The cape can be detached for compact packing.
