Cleaning
Brush off loose dirt with a soft brush after each use. For tougher grime, hand wash with cool water and a mild technical cleaner and a soft brush — avoid machine washing, which can damage the Vibram® XS Trek outsole, the recycled polyester upper, and the rubber toe cap over time.
Drying
Remove insoles if they are removable. Stuff the toes with newspaper or paper towels to absorb moisture and maintain shape. Air dry at room temperature away from direct heat or sunlight — never use a dryer, radiator, or fireplace, which can warp the EVA midsole, degrade the Vibram rubber, and damage the upper materials.
Outsole Care
The non-marking Vibram® XS Trek outsole is designed not to leave scuff marks on indoor floors. Periodically clear the 4 mm lugs of embedded debris — small stones and grit caught in the tread reduce traction on varied terrain. A small brush or pick works well for cleaning between lugs.
Hardware
Wipe the rustproof hardware with a dry cloth occasionally to keep it looking clean and operating smoothly. If laces get wet or muddy, replace them or wash separately — old laces can stain the recycled polyester upper over time.
Odour Control
Sprinkle baking soda inside the shoes after heavy use and let sit overnight before shaking out — helps absorb moisture and neutralize odour between deep cleans. Don't use harsh chemical deodorizers that can degrade the EVA midsole adhesives.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the shoes upright so the midsoles don't compress unevenly. Don't store wet — moisture degrades the EVA foam and causes premature breakdown of the midsole cushioning.
