Sidekick Jr. Mips

Sidewalk, pump track or trail — inspire your little ripper with some big kid style. The Sidekick Jr. packs classic MTB style and MIPS Safety System crash protection into a helmet for the youngest dirt riders. From the visor to the vents and extended back coverage, it has all the design features of the big kid helmets. The right fit is key, so it comes in two youth sizes with a dial-adjustable system to fine-tune fit and comfort.

MIPS Safety System
Helps reduce rotational forces caused by angled impacts to the head — the same core protection found in the adult helmets, scaled down for young riders.
Lightweight In-Mold Construction
The exterior shell and EPS foam are fused into a one-piece design that's lightweight and durable — so it survives the drops and the bike itself.
Two Youth Sizes
Youth X-Small fits 48–52 cm heads (roughly ages 4–8) and Youth Small fits 51–55 cm (roughly ages 8–12), so you can size by head measurement rather than guesswork.
Dial-Adjustable Fit
A dial adjustment system fine-tunes fit and comfort as your rider grows, and as the helmet settles in through a season of use.
12 Fixed Vents
Fixed vents deliver consistent airflow across the shell, keeping little riders cool and comfortable on longer rides.
Transit Light Mount
A center rear vent is designed to accept a rechargeable Transit Light, sold separately, for extra visibility on the trail.
AirEvac Ventilation
The ventilation system integrates with Smith eyewear, moving air through the lens so a young rider's glasses stay fog-free.
Integrated Visor
An integrated visor brings the classic MTB look and shades the eyes from trail and low sun.
Extended Back Coverage
Extended coverage at the back of the head matches the design language of the full-size helmets, with the protection that implies.

Cleaning
Hand wash the shell with lukewarm water and mild soap, and wipe the internal padding and straps with a damp cloth. Do not use solvents, bleach, or a machine wash — these degrade the shell and the MIPS padding.
Drying
Air dry at room temperature away from direct heat and sunlight. Never use a dryer, radiator, or direct sun, as heat warps the shell and compromises protection.
Dial Fit
Keep the dial clear of grit, mud and ice, and wipe the dial housing after muddy rides so the mechanism keeps turning smoothly and the fit stays consistent.
Transit Light Mount
Keep the center rear vent clear so a Transit Light seats and charges properly, and check the mount for looseness as kids tend to knock helmets around. The light is sold separately.
Visor and Liner
Check the visor mount for cracking after a fall, and remove washable pads and liners where fitted to hand wash separately. Never store the helmet resting on its visor.
Replacing as They Grow
This is the one piece of safety equipment that has to be replaced on a schedule rather than after a crash. If your rider's head is at or past the top of the stated head circumference, or they've aged past the range, move up a size — even with no impact.
Impact Replacement
Replace the helmet after any significant impact, even when no damage is visible, and always after a crash involving the head. Inspect the shell for compression marks and the padding for dents after every fall.
Storage
Use the drawstring bag to keep the helmet together and protected from dust in a bag, locker or car seat. Store away from direct sunlight and high heat.
