Men's Nuptse Mules
Men's Nuptse Mules
Footwear · Insulated Slipper / Casual Mule

Durable and insulated with 550-fill down, the warm, comfortable Men's Nuptse Mules will be your shoes of choice from backyards to base camp.

550-Fill Goose Down Insulation
550-fill goose down insulation provides lightweight, compressible warmth — the same down tech used across TNF's cold-weather apparel, delivering meaningful warmth per ounce; all down is certified to the Responsible Down Standard (RDS) or recycled, ensuring humane sourcing and traceability
Foldable-Heel Mule Design
Foldable-heel design lets you wear the mule as a traditional closed slipper or fold the heel down for a true slide-style mule — versatile enough to wear inside the tent, around the cabin, or down to the trailhead
Durable Rubber Outsole
Sole unit features a durable rubber outsole made with up to 20% recycled rubber — provides protection whether you're inside (slip-resistant on tile/wood floors) or outdoors (handles dirt, gravel, and short walks to the wood pile or car)
Recycled P.E.T. Ripstop Webbing Upper
Upper is made with 100% recycled P.E.T. ripstop webbing — the ripstop weave resists tearing and abrasion; recycled P.E.T. (from post-consumer plastic bottles) gives the webbing durability and quick-drying performance with a lower environmental footprint than virgin polyester
Heel & Instep Pull Loops
Pull loops at the heel and instep for easy on/off — the dual-loop design lets you slide the mules on without bending over (useful with cold hands or stiff muscles in the morning) and makes them easy to hang on a pack loop or hook when not in use

Cleaning
Spot clean only with a soft brush and mild soap. Do not machine wash or tumble dry. The 550-fill down insulation will clump and lose loft if machine washed — and the recycled P.E.T. ripstop webbing is not designed for harsh washing cycles. For heavy soiling, hand-wash gently in cold water with a down-safe cleaner such as Nikwax Down Wash, then rinse thoroughly and lay flat to dry. Do not wring or twist.
Drying Down Insulation
Lay flat to air dry at room temperature away from direct heat or sunlight. This is critical for down — the 550-fill down must dry completely to prevent mildew and clumping. Drying can take 24–48 hours depending on humidity. Do not use a clothes dryer, radiator, or hair dryer — heat damages the down clusters and reduces loft. To restore loft during drying, periodically fluff the down by hand (gently break up any clumps between your fingers). Tennis balls in a tumble dryer on low/no heat can help restore loft if a dryer is absolutely needed, but air drying is preferred.
Foldable-Heel Care
The foldable heel is the key versatility feature of the mule. Avoid repeatedly folding the heel in the same place — this creates a permanent crease and weakens the ripstop webbing at the fold. If you wear the mules primarily as a closed slipper, alternate the fold direction (or wear them fully closed without folding). If the heel loses its fold-ability over time (the fabric stiffens or the stitching fails), it can usually be restored by hand-flexing the heel area a few times.
Outsole Care
Clear mud, dirt, and debris from the durable rubber outsole with a stiff brush after each use — debris reduces the slip-resistance of the outsole and can be tracked into the tent or cabin. The outsole is made with up to 20% recycled rubber, which is more durable than virgin rubber but still benefits from regular cleaning. Rinse with fresh water after exposure to mud, saltwater, or chlorinated surfaces to prevent residue buildup.
Pull Loop Care
The pull loops at the heel and instep are reinforced webbing, but they're the highest-stress point on the mule. Inspect the stitching periodically — if the loop starts to pull away from the upper, repair it immediately with a strong upholstery thread rather than letting the loop detach entirely. Use both pull loops together when putting the mules on to distribute the stress evenly across both attachment points rather than relying on one loop repeatedly.
Down Loft Restoration
If the 550-fill down loses loft from compression (packing in a duffel for travel) or from getting damp, restore it by air drying completely and then hand-fluffing the down clusters between your fingers. Do not store the mules compressed for long periods — down loses loft permanently when stored compressed. When packing for travel, use the largest bag or stuff pocket you have available, or pack them last on top of other items so they don't get crushed.
Recycled P.E.T. Webbing Care
The 100% recycled P.E.T. ripstop webbing upper is durable and quick-drying but sensitive to high heat. Do not iron — heat melts or distorts the ripstop webbing and the reinforcement stitching. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight when drying — UV exposure over many years can degrade the recycled P.E.T. fibers and fade the color. For sunscreen stains, body oils, or other oily residue, pre-treat with a tiny amount of mild dish soap before spot-cleaning.
Storage
Store clean and fully dry in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not store compressed — the 550-fill down loses loft when stored in a stuff sack or under heavy items. Store the mules flat or in their natural shape. A breathable cotton storage bag (not plastic) is ideal — it allows the down to breathe while protecting the ripstop webbing from dust. Cedar blocks or lavender sachets in the storage area deter moths without leaving a strong scent on the down.
