The Freewheel MTB Ride Short focuses on durable comfort and breathability with a bike-specific fit and features for riding singletrack, gravel roads, and fast bike park descents. The Freewheel Ride Shorts' sturdy 4-way stretch fabric is complimented by DuraPrint®–a 3D-printed overlay–on the outer hems for extra abrasion resistance in high-wear areas. Duraprint's proprietary resin-based structure adds durability without adding weight or impeding flexibility in the fabric. The higher back waist offers better coverage when seated, and laser perforations in the back yoke increase breathability. A low-profile waist adjustment tabs dials in the fit, hip pockets, and a clever slide lock snap closure are intuitive, bike-friendly features. Built to be the perfect trail-riding shorts with a 29.2 cm / 11.5 in inseam, the Freewheel MTB Ride Short delivers durability and comfort for logging miles on the climb and quick, skillful descents on the trail.

DuraPrint™ Outer Hem Overlay

A proprietary resin-based 3D-printed overlay at the outer hems adds serious abrasion resistance in the high-wear zone where calves rub against the frame, cranks, and chainstays—without adding weight or impeding the stretch of the underlying fabric.

Bike-Specific Fit

A higher back waist delivers better coverage when seated on the saddle, and articulated leg openings with front drop coverage sit cleanly over the knee and kneepads without binding on the pedal stroke.

4-Way Stretch

A bluesign® approved 88% nylon / 12% spandex stretch fabric mirrors the body through every pedal stroke, attack position, and descent, eliminating restriction on technical singletrack.

UPF 50+ Sun Protection

Maximum-rated sun protection shields the legs from harmful UV rays on long, exposed alpine shuttles and summer bike-park days, eliminating the need for sunscreen on covered skin.

C0 DWR Water Resistance

A C0 (fluorocarbon-free) durable water repellent finish sheds light rain, mud splatter, and stream crossings without the environmental concerns of older PFC-based DWR treatments.

Slide Lock Snap Closure

A clever slide lock snap at the center front waist stays secure during aggressive riding and easy to adjust one-handed at stops, with no bulk or clasp to dig into the stomach in the riding position.

Low-Pro™ Side Waist Adjustment

Low-profile side waist adjustment tabs dial in a secure, customized fit without the bulk of external Velcro or buckle closures that can dig into the hips or rub under pack hip belts.

Laser Perforated Back Yoke

Laser-perforated holes at the back yoke panel dump heat and increase airflow across the lower back, where most riders build up sweat on long climbs and warmup laps.

Dual Hip Security Pockets

A top-loading right hip zip pocket and a side-loading left hip zip pocket secure a phone, ID, cards, a snack, or a multi-tool, and stay accessible without bouncing on rough descents.

Gusseted Crotch

A gusseted crotch eliminates binding and chafing at the inseam on long rides and high-reach attack positions, while gusseted construction adds durability to a common failure point.

Cleaning

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild technical-gear or liquid detergent. Do not use bleach, fabric softener, or standard laundry soap, which can degrade the spandex stretch, the C0 DWR finish, and the DuraPrint™ overlay bond over time.

Drying

Tumble dry on low heat for 20–30 minutes to reactivate the DWR finish, or hang to air dry. The quick-drying nylon will air dry in minutes. Avoid high heat, which can damage the spandex content and reduce the elastic recovery of the 4-way stretch fabric.

DuraPrint™ Care

The DuraPrint™ resin-based 3D-printed overlay at the outer hems is highly abrasion-resistant. Periodically inspect the overlay for lifting or peeling, especially after hard crashes or abrasive rock encounters. Avoid contact with sharp pedal pins, chainring teeth, and rocks that can chip the resin.

DWR Refresh

When water no longer beads on the fabric, reproof with a spray-on DWR treatment compatible with stretch nylon to restore water-shedding performance without compromising the 4-way stretch or the DuraPrint™ overlay.

Storage

Allow the shorts to dry fully before storing. Hang on a clip hanger or fold loosely in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Avoid compression under heavy gear, which can crush the DuraPrint™ overlay bond and reduce abrasion resistance over time.
